I'd argue that we have been overachieving sine about 2001, but some people here don't realize that there are 110+ teams in FBS and to be top 25 or is pretty much awesome.

So let me get this straight...being a top 25 program is considered “overachieving”???? Awesome pal!!! That’s like telling Michael Phelps to just be thankful he hasn’t drowned yet.

Well, it is easier to overachieve if you have low expectations and unfortunately our expectations have fallen significantly since our last HC hire.

I would argue that with JJ and JL as the QBs, the 2011 team overachieved....at least until 1/9
Tigers were running smoothly at 8-0 until Ding Dong put Ring Ding in the tank and the engine misfired for the remainder of the year.

I could argue last year was an overachievement. New coach, new offense, limited QB, half-assed Arden Key, I was expecting 8 wins.

Considering how bad LSU football sucked before 2001, I'd say yes.

It's not like LSU was a powerhouse football school before Saban got here.

I can't remember the last time LSU overachieved in football since 2007.

In 2011, you can search The Rant archives and you will certainly find the Chicken Littles saying how far back the defense would fall by losing Nevis, Sheppard, and PP7. Brockers, Minter, and the Badger were all FR in 2010. And absolutely lit it up in 2011.

So your faith in sports lies in the words of people hired to stir the pot? Most of those guys are wannabes that never played a down and pass words from one to the next until they believe they are facts. I'm not saying O or Ensminger are the best in the world but what is wrong to listen to players and recruits that interact with the coaching world every day? You just spew negativity - not fact! Must be a miserable world you live in. How can you be a Tiger fan? Even better - WHY?

O was still a shite hire. Just because someone doesn’t like the hire doesn’t mean they’re not a “true” fan. The other poster is absolutely correct and it is a fact, NO other P5 school wanted to nor would’ve hired the retard LSU did.

I see what you’re saying. But it’s a new era now-One in which LSU has won championships. Just being in the top 25 stopped being good enough years ago.

It is human nature. I have been watching LSU football since 1980 and the most enjoyable years ( excluding 2003 & 2007 ) were when they exceeded expectations.

2000
2001
