I’m not at all blaming Dillon Jones

He is one of my favorite players and does almost everything you could want. But watching Georgia rbs run the ball. We need a back with more explosion and break away speed. A couple of the holes today and jones gets 9 yards. Lacy has a chance to take to the house or at least break open for a huge gain.. A running game like that makes the rest of the offense run so much easier.

Totally agree. Haven’t had a RB like that since Leonard

Funny you say this… what would be do behind Georgia’s line??

our RB's including Dillon are told to rush the los apparently, instead of waiting until a hole is closed or looking elsewhere. The best RBs are patient and explode. LSU RB's are quite apparently told to hit the area as hard and fast as possible, regardless of whether there is a hole or not.

Look our line isn’t great but they opened up some holes a few times tonight and we made positive gains with jones but they had chances to be game breaking plays for much bigger gains

Jones is perfectly okay.
He’s not bad, but he’s not good. He doesn’t break runs. He can make one guy miss but doesn’t have the tools to do it and keep going for something big.
He’s a fine player but it seems like every other team has a guy that can break a big run and Jones never does. Rather see more Harlem, he would probably do just as much in this offense while being a threat to bust it.

With our OL that's probably good advice. If they wait for a hole to open they'll have a linebacker keeping them company in the backfield

He’s a very good RB, but is stubborn about not going outside. He insists on running into the supposed hole inside instead of bouncing it out.
If he picks that up, the. Watch out as he could be too 5 back in the country.

It doesn't matter if you have Jamir Gibbs. You need better blocking

This is why I want to see Berry once in a while. If you give him a hole, he's going to bust a big one. But we don't see him for weeks, then he gets a carry where he's immediately swallowed up, and we don't see him again, as if it's his fault that they didn't block for him.
You've got to find a way to get playmakers the ball. Why can't Berry return punts? Wilson has not been good there.

Jones is a very good back. He’s good at everything.
He is not a game breaker though. Kiffin and White don’t like to rotate backs, so Jones is the guy.

One of the last guys the rant should be hating on IMO. Most reliable back we have had in years playing behind a mediocre OL.
Not a homerun hitter, don’t need him to be. There are a couple of those behind him.
“We need Leonard Fournette”
Genius analysis.

You aren’t hearing me.. I’m saying on runs where there are holes open he’s not able to turn them into explosive plays. Meaning when the o line is blocking well

Berry is not a good back

That analysis didn’t come from me but I started it off by saying I’m not blaming him. He does his role very well but we need a home run hitter to get where we want to go.

If Dilin is told this, he doesn't follow that advice. He's a pretty patient runner IMO. Just lacks explosiveness.
Side note, he's a really reliable pass catcher as well.

That’s exactly the opposite of what Dillon Jones does. You haven’t watched a game.

Definitely need another back with more explosion

A statement preceding a “but” means you don’t really believe that.

There is no “other” back. Smith and Kiffin both seem to prefer a back who gets 80% of the work.
