My bank account says otherwise.

Are you requesting that your funds go to basketball specifically? If so, that’s all you can do. The likelihood that the amount of money you are giving will have any influence on whether LSU is able to fire the head coach is extremely small.

Also, I disagree with anyone saying LSU should ignore basketball. Obviously that’s a very dumb idea.

It's just a WEE bit tougher to win a national title in a sport that virtually everyone cares about (men's basketball) than to win one in which virtually NO ONE cares about (baseball), don't ya think??????????

LSU baseball twitter has 432k followers. Men’s basketball has 134k. Softball has 145k.

Reading comprehension not your thang???????????

I said IF/WHEN basketball gets rolling again, it will DWARF interest in every other sport at LSU with the exception of wait for it........ FOOTBALL.

Everybody loves a winner. Due to our administration not having THE BALLS to stand behind the winner we had in Wade, we are the furthest we could possibly be from winning.

I'll tell you who won't have any trouble winning shortly: whoever hires the general, and it's looking like that is gonna be NC st.

Great point, except LSU softball has never won anything and still has more interest than men’s basketball (as measured by number of twitter followers)

Slo flo. I truly believe you are mentally ill based on 99% of your posts.

However, I can't believe I've actually upvoted you FOUR TIMES in this thread.

I'm aiming for this post to compliment you, SERIOUSLY.

You actually have a completely accurate understanding of the subject matter in this thread.

It's not dumb in this area. It's more emotional. This is just baseball fans trying to pretend it's relevant in the big picture because of their emotional attachment to it.

It’s also a very insular area who doesn’t pay attention to much outside of the sphere of influence. It’s good in some ways it’s bad in someways. They are extremely loyal. However that loyalty makes them blind to obvious truths.

They don’t even accept proven truths in baseball such as the irrelevance of bunting in modern baseball.

frick that. I love football and baseball to death, but I want a good basketball team. LSU's basketball atmosphere was once one of the best things about LSU and was one of the best environment's around. It started getting good again during the Wade era and it's dead now, but it's so fun to have a good basketball team when March Madness rolls around. And numerous other once-shitty SEC teams have turned their programs into exciting winners again.

And as much as we all love baseball here and it has grown a lot as a college sport, football and men's basketball are still at the top nationally. Men's basketball is so big that it was the only other sport we made money from last year (1.3 million profit) besides football because of all the TV contracts/revenue sharing. Bama profited 6 million last year in basketball. So if you actually have a good team, you can make a lot more from it than you can from other sports being good (minus football).

The AD's job is to make us a winner in sports and to take care of the finances. Having a good basketball team helps tremendously with the finances.

The softball team has made the World Series regularly since Torina got there, I think, I'm not a fan of the sport but i read headlines.

Basketball is no where near competitive. The fact that there are 134k followers is AMAZING given the performance of this asshat we have "coaching" us now.

If softball or gymnastics was performing as badly as our basketball now, they wouldn't have a fraction of the followers basketball does.

You know this unless you're ignorant or being intentionally obtuse.

I’d be OK with LSU dropping the Men’s Basketball program

Is it possible to do it and remain in the SEC?

why don't we secede and become like Notre Dame? cherry pick and choose who we want to play with, maybe get our own tv network?

Completely agree.

Who cares about basketball?
I honestly could not care less if LSU dismantled the team.

I wouldn't say it is an emotional thing. People like watching a good product. Who cares what the rest of the nation thinks about what you enjoy watching? Do I need to get approval for what tv shows I want to watch?

I would only be interested in watching the basketball team if it were a very good product. So either spend a ton of money on it or don't bother. Just pick one.

I seriously don't know. It's a problem that has plagued LSU for decades. We do get results in Natties, but for the life of me I can not figure out why we can't sustain it. I can't tell if it's systematic, player turnover, recruitment after a national championship season, or what, but it is really weird. For example, if you do look at Tennessee, they are doing great after their NC, why couldn't we do the same here? It's almost as if we have to build up for 4 years and win one, and restart from scratch and I have no idea how or why it happens.
