Because this isn't football

We have Southeastern, Northwestern State and McNeese left. I don't think any of them really have the arms to keep us from outscoring them.

But we're gonna be Johnny Wholestaffing those games with a lot of kids we aren't using on the weekends because of how Jay has to use his bullpen, so the pitching might well look pretty ugly on Tuesdays against some not-so-impressive teams.

Really would rather not lose any of these three games.

We need somebody like Will Hellmers to step up and give us five innings in the midweek so the bullpen isn't taxed.

That's not how any of this works. Even if someone is throwing a perfect game, we're not going to have anyone throw more than 2-3 innings on the midweek.

Midweek games against directional schools etc. are the opportunity LSU has to play other players, allow pitchers to work on things, and rest others. It's great to win them but it isn't a disaster if we lose but gain in other ways that will help get players needed experience so they can help later.
