would you let them drive a car? that's more dangerous than catching covid at their age. you can't stop a virus anyway.
I wouldn't force him too, but would have no problem at all.

None of the things you mentioned literally requires people to have physical contact with each other ecept for sports. You can limit the number of people in a bar or school or restaurant and still keep people 6 feet apart but that literally isn't possible in a football game. Also, I think we can all agree school and most jobs are far more essential than sports. Yes the revenue that football brings to some schools is irreplaceable but by and large collegiate sports are expendable for many if not most schools (hence why the Ivy League already shut down all sports).

you twat...risk what getting sick for 2 weeks? you are more likely to get ran over by a car than die from the virus

This is why the disinformation about this virus is so wrong.

I have heard people over and over again talk about how harmless COVID is for young people and I cannot tell if you people are just stupid or you just want to ignore the real problem with the situation but I will inform you in case you really don't know. The reason young people have to be careful with COVID as well is not because the disease is particularly deadly for most of them but because they can still be carriers of the disease and give it to people who ARE vulnerable. I would argue that young people being so resistant to the disease actually exacerbates this problem. A young person who contracts COVID and has little to no symptoms is not likely to get tested and is more likely to therefore go around their parents, grandparents, older family and friends, etc and possibly give the disease to them. This is especially problematic for high school/middle school/elementary school kids who usually live with their parents and/or grandparents.

When I was 19, potentially catching Covid would have been one of the safest things I was involved in.

Bars and restaurants are handling your food. At bars, no one is social distancing. It defeats the whole purpose of a bar.
The risk to young athletes playing football is virtually zero.
There is a significantly greater risk to the fans, coaches, etc.

If your son was on the team, would you want him to play this fall?
I wouldn't mind if he played. A study I saw today stated that healthy people under 40 have a <0.01% chance of death from COVID19.
If he had diabetes or other vascular issues, no i wouldn't want him to play.

Studies have shown that COVID is transmitted primarily through the air, not through food. Let the CDC tell you if you don't believe me.

Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread from person to person through respiratory droplets. Currently, there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food. Before preparing or eating food it is important to always wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds for general food safety. Throughout the day use a tissue to cover your coughing or sneezing, and wash your hands after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, or going to the bathroom.
And yes, social distancing is still possible at a bar. Contact Sports are the only activities that literally requires physical contact between large numbers of individuals.

The question was, would I let my son play.
Yes, I would. I have a son of that age and he is living life normally.

So your son would just stay inside until the coast is clear?

It amazes me how many scared pussies there are in this world.

Yes
In high school, those Friday nights are literally some of the best moments of your entire life
For those then fortunate enough to play in college, it’s that same feeling amplified to 1000. Again, the best time of your life and at the same time it’s tied to the entire college experience, along with either great employment opportunities or life changing generational wealth if you can go pro.
To lose a year of either would be devastating for my son and for me as a dad (for him)

The frick is wrong with this world? Your son is FAR more likely to die driving to school than he would be playing football. Jeezus. Fricking twat!

Absolutely - I'd hope he already contracted it. Only family I don't want there are my parents. They're mid 70's and one has lung issues and one immune disorder.

Absolutely.
I let him drive in cars too.
