I wouldn’t see him selling very many of the $30 packages in this instance. Hard to imagine there are that many college baseball fanatics that couldn’t get their fix of games from what the ESPN app has to offer. People would just pay the $10 for their specific team and then if they couldn’t get enough college baseball could just tune into the ESPN app that they already pay for.

I would say that you should have the option to pay a lesser price for the games of a single team. I'm not paying $30 for a weekend of baseball even if I get 40 games or whatever they boast. IDC about 40 games, I want to watch 3 games and I'd probably pay $10 for that.

But I bet you that SECN would have streamed it with not problem. At least the LSU games. If you can't find anyone worth a shite to stream it. Don't have the "tournament" and let the teams play where they may.

Probably not. Unless D1 wanted to pay them for it. And it would probably cost them a lot. There’s no incentive for ESPN to produce the tournament unless it was for a shite load of money that D1 probably doesn’t have.

It’s pretty obvious what has happened. D1 committed to doing all of these tournaments thinking they could handle it themselves. After multiple years of shitting the bed, they realized they were in over their heads so they outsourced basically all of it.

Make it free with a monthly or discounted annual subscription to D1Baseball.

If I was Kendall, this is what I would do.

Offer a baseball season access level to d1baseball and it includes being able to stream these tournaments they put on.

Frankly, their annual subscribing cost is pretty damn high at $140 for basic and $190 (geared towards SEC/ACC fans). I mean this is more than all the paid sites I've been a part of ever.

If they could offer like a $70 season pass (5 months access Feb-June) that includes being able to stream what they put on - I'd totally sign up for that.

$140-$180 with what they provide and NO streaming access, and dont even have a forum or anything

Hard to imagine they have much in the form of annual subscribers at those rates. I've contemplated doing the monthly in the past at $16-$23...but if you pay for that over say 5 months of the season it ends up $80-$115 anyways...and again, they dont even have a forum to talk college baseball which is part of the allure of sites like on3, 247, rivals, etc in the past

This, the $20 and $30 options are almost pointless, basically all they would see is $10 team ones. 98% of their sales would come from the team one and I bet they wouldnt come close to breaking even selling it that low

I dunno what the answer is, but I watched the highlights on wheels and it made be think ever paying for that would be a waste of time. The camera guy didn't know where to go on occasion, missed important moments, and camera that looked like it was in a hurricane at some points.

This, end of story.

None of the bigger networks have any interest in doing it. If it wasn't D1 streaming this, it would be something like Flo Sports who would cost just as much.

And again, this changes absolutely nothing about any of my points.

The way these tournaments are setup is just anti-consumer when they have to have someone come in to stream them and charge (proportionally) a large amount of money to people to watch them. It's just dumb and doesnt advance the sport and just is a complete pain in the arse for actual fans who can watch the other 95% of the games on ESPN family of networks which they all already pay for. On top of all that, the quality is way worse and in past years had total disasters while trying to stream it...for what anyone paying for would expect a premium product to pay $25-$30 to watch a few college baseball games....and they're not getting anywhere close to that.

Same, I watched all the highlights on wheels channel from all 3 games and while it sounds like they fixed the actual streaming feed this time around compared to previous years at least where it wouldnt drop for long periods or buffer randomly - the camera work was high school level tier at times (I mean we actually benefitted from shoddy camera work on Yorke's HR that probably wasn't a HR but no clear footage showing it wasnt ). As others have said, no pitch velocity, no real stats in general on screen or player intros shown.

Again, for a $25-$30 product for a weekend of baseball games, people will expect WAY WAY more than that.

forcing everyone to buy everything is where I have the biggest issue

No doubt.

I’d also say, give us 1 decent opponent.

LSU has been to 3 Peak/D1 tournaments and played:
Indiana
Notre Dame
UCF
K State (twice)
Nebraska
Sam Houston (twice)
Iowa

Peak has Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona, even USM and Irvine in its tournaments this year. 1 of them would have been nice.

We are going on 5 seasons in with Jay now and I think it's pretty clear he had no intentions of us playing multiple high quality OOC teams at this point. Not a criticism of him whatsoever, just the apparent truth and it doesnt matter obviously when we're winning titles no problem without playing a ranked type team OOC a few times. He sneaks in some low key quality OOC matchups here and there, like the mid-week games against DBU, Texas (i guess not low key in name there, but was a mid-weeker), Kent St, Xavier in the past; 3x against Xavier, 3x against Samford weekend series as well in the past.

The neutral site tournaments we've done typically comprise on 2-ish bubble type NCAAT teams seems like and then someone a bit worse typically.

I dont think we see him stray much from this in the future, in the end it works for what he's trying to achieve. And I know he's said in the past he's tried to get some bigger names in for a series or even a mid-week type thing and always tended to get the cold shoulder but I also doubt he's REALLY trying that hard to get say Oregon St down here to play a weekend series or a UCLA type either. While those types of weekend series or even a mid week 1-2x thing is fun for us as fans with a high quality opponent we have so many high quality opponents in SEC play its rather pointless to have to do that in OOC scheduling to put it bluntly.

Just do like me when it's time for those PPV tournaments, listen on radio or follow stats and don't give those fools a dime.

There's only four LSU baseball games that aren't televised with a streaming/cable package.

What's the 4th one? Are you counting the ESPN+ game technically there? I guess I could see that since you need beyond just a tv package with ESPN in it (or subscribe to ESPN+ separately which is what i do), but they started ESPN unlimited late last year which gets you ESPN+ access along with it for only $29.99/mo Really a heck of a deal if you dont care about much else on tv during baseball season. I could probably cancel youtubetv right now personally after the olympics are over and survive on ESPN Unlimited through the summer.

You dont even need a cable/streaming tv package with ESPN to watch all the games anymore - minus the peak tournament games of course.

My suggestion would be sell the rights to the tournament to a better streaming service or just post it on a monetized YouTube stream that has ad breaks.

Make it consumer friendly for prices. No one fan base cares about all the games. Just the games their team is in. Either the games à la carte or half price for the tournament compared to now. I understand you have to make your money to produce it but $30 for 3 games isn’t very enticing for most.

Or like someone else said just put it on YouTube with ad breaks. Win, win.

No they wouldn't.
ESPN/SECN is contractually obligated to produce and stream all baseball held in SEC home stadiums. They agreed to this to have the rights to stream football, if not for this contract we would not get any of the baseball games on TV/Stream.
