I'm almost certain that we were looking at a Japanese player in recent years.

We have never been in serious contention for any of the players coming over from Japan.

That model worked pretty well for Bethune Cookman, but competing in the SWAC and the SEC are 2 different stories.

Because anyone worth a damn in those countries are already signed by 16 and in the minor league baseball system or at the academies.

I suppose LSU could look for guys that have been released but those players probably stink

Most of their international players played at least JUCO, but in many cases also HS baseball in the US. At least 3 of them played at TNXL, a "high school" in Florida that LSU currently has two pitcher commits from.

Under the current rules, those players are not eligible to play D1. They can play at some level of JUCO, they can play NAIA, or they can play D2.

Great idea. We don't have to go far. Bethune Cookman has a lot of international players, just go recruit from their team and ask if they have cousins.

because those Caribbean kids can sign with MLB teams as young as 16 years old.

Andrew Jones signed with the Braves at 16. He was hitting post season bombs as a teenager.

Might not want to post every random thought that pops into your head. Your arse is just showing at that point. It's okay to keep things to yourself.

There are a lot of kids that can throw a 95 mph fast ball these days. There aren't many kids that are 6'10 and knock down 3s

Jay can’t compete with the MLB contracts for 16 year olds. The volume of players isn’t there like it is with basketball in other leagues after the MLB signs who they want.

Jesus Christ. I lean right and can’t stand most of the modern left and this is pitiful. Grow up, snowflake.

I don’t want rosters full of international players. I’m working hard enough to still care with the current state of NIL and college sports.

Are you suggesting we recruit a Fat Man for the team? Probably wouldn’t work out.

This one really is just

Ohtani is on a 10 year $700M contract, right in our wheelhouse!
Are you really that fricking stupid or are you just being obtuse?

Pretty sure he means the next up and comer. Ohtani wasn't a 10 year 700m player at 17 years old.

Be careful what you ask for! College tennis has become a predominantly foreign born sport. And even though tennis popularity in the US is growing strongly, the college tennis world is dropping programs left and right.
