The Friday Arkansas game is always more fun to watch at home with the family stuffing yourself with leftovers from the day before. The stadium would be full if Arkansas would do their part and actually be in the top 25.

Loved it...only game on that Friday (I think)

Seems to me like a heated intra-conference rivalry would take precedence over an out of conference game. I know there are some other examples (FL/FSU, etc), but those are series that have been and are STILL currently in progress - TAM/UT is not still currently in progress - they can resume their series and play on another week if they want - the hell with UT, the SEC comes first in this situation.

I think if we give it time, the LSU-A&M series will heat up. Especially now that they got Fisher. It takes time. They’re a natural rival based on geography and fan base interaction. Out of all the SEC fan bases, A&M and LSU overlaps the most especially due to the oil & gas industry. Louisiana people keep flocking to Tx too. That helps. It’ll work out. Patience.

It's like the only thing he's stuck up for us on or shown any spine for. I wish there was a way for him to just flat out deny playing games at 2:30 at home. If he came out and did something like that, he'd earn much respect from me.

Some younger guys might not know, but we have a long history with A&M.
We used to play Rice a bit too.

For several years on ABC, Texas-Texas A&M was the early kickoff on Friday, sometimes at 10 am. Then Nebraska-Colorado was the afternoon kickoff.

IMO, it would be great to NOT have an SEC game that weekend. Play Tulane every year in the Superdome. Give them 25K tickets and us 49K tickets.

Just hearing those names together again gave me goose bumps. College football started going downhill when Nebraska bolted for the Big 10. I think it's lost a lot of its charm and become too big time.

They wouldn't sell half that. They also have the arrogance to basically demand an even split either in tickets or choice of venue. It's insane.

ETA: I would love nothing more than for them to be elite and us compete with them every year. I love in state rivalries and I love Public vs. Private rivalries.

OU doesn’t need Nebraska. They have Bedlam and the Texas games for that recruiting tool. Nebraska needed it more than OU did

Regardless of the OU game, Nebraska was never the same after Osborne left. They blamed Texas for their misery, which is understandable since they went 1-9 against the Longhorns in the Big 12.

Bayou Classic would need to be accommodated. I think they should move it to the same day as Army-Navy. After the championship games in mid-December.

So you think getting kids to campus for a Friday game is hard but getting them there for a Thursday game is not hard??
When we played Texas on Thanksgiving, and had bonfire the night before (suspect you don't realize how big the crowd was for bonfire), getting students to the game was not a problem. Once we moved to the Big XII, the game moved to Friday, and bonfire went away (came back off campus, but it's not the same), and student attendance plummeted. Friday is the worst day of that weekend for student attendance--you can't get kids to make the drive back 2 days early, whereas, for a Saturday game, you're only trying to get them back 1 day early. It makes a difference.

Besides the student factor, fans who drive in and spend the night for the game prefer Saturday over Friday, because a Friday game still ruins their Thanksgiving Day plans, whereas a Saturday game does not.

In Missouri and Kansas. Outside of those two states, nobody cares.

Before that, Nebraska-Oklahoma was a post-Thanskgiving Friday afternoon staple. And it was a way more significant game.

Why do LSU fans hate playing on Thanksgiving Day? I liked driving to College Station on Thanksgiving for the games in 2014 and 2016.

And no, I wasn’t the one person who downvoted.

I would love to play Tulane that weekend on a Saturday. I would imagine the money Tulane would get for coming to Tiger Stadium has to be to good to pass up. Why get the same amount of money to get blown out by Alabama or some other P5 school when they can play LSU in-state and have a game that their fans and alumni would actually care about?

I can't imagine why they won't agree to a 2 for 1 with the 1 being played in their home stadium where they can charge triple for tickets. Heck a home and home agreement would work with Tulane change triple for tickets for that game.

This is the most aggy thing I've read in my life.

Aggy leaves the conference and backs out of games already scheduled, then blames the Longhorns.
