We are plenty talented enough on offense although we do lack a big time deep threat.
We are still not good enough on defense talent wise. We are solid at most positions but solid doesn't win championships. Safety is a weakness and maybe the most important defensive position in modern college football. We have recruited well and have a lot of young good players but as Kirby Smart said is his presser about his starting freshman safety, "Freshman are never ready to play in the SEC. We play them out of need.".
Secondary and LB play should be solidified next year as well as interior DL. Might need to get an End and another interior guy in the portal though.

In retrospect, that was a quarterback who was little to no passing threat and Perkins could just chase him down all game.
The Arkansas game was probably just a one off and Perkins is more of the kind of player we've seen the rest of the time.

If we finish outside the top-25, and we look bad at the end of the season, then I think many more people will have Kelly on the hot seat in '25.
Personally, I think he's done a great job thus far considering the absolute dumpster fire he inherited. Recruiting has been stellar the last couple of years, so hopefully some of these guys come in, along with better portal guys, and we make the playoffs next year.
Y'all. Kelly can't be on the hot seat if we're not competing for top talent NIL wise.
There needs to be a reordering of expectations for all the teams that can't win the money game.

Or at the least, back to where it's no longer an embarrassment.

Not a wasted year just because we miss the playoffs. Wasted would be not getting any better or developing our roster to point where we are comfortable in most positions heading into next season. Development is key this season if we make the playoffs great but I want to see the guys on this roster improve and take the next step. Set a foundation for the future.
