Correct and this constant “muh we don’t have talent” bs anytime we’re not in contention is so tired and played out. It’s just a built in go to excuse. Go look at the roster talent evaluations, it doesn’t have merit. Yes in one or two spots we either need improvement or changes but you won’t find many teams who are more talented.

Sure you have. Unless you joined this year and missed 2 years of Jayden crybabies.

I didn't miss your 2 years of hating JD5, even when it was obvious that he was awesome, TrouserTrout

But you can make excuses for any year so how does that ever change?

What specifically is your concern? That we're not elite right now?

Kelly came in and had to do a hard reset here, and he's set the baseline at 9-3. That's 10-2 if you play North Texas instead of a ranked team in the opener. We haven't seen the "oh wow" recruiting classes yet, guys you expect to make an impact day 1 on the field. Based on the recruiting, THAT'S coming next year. You start plugging those guys into an already-good (and 9-3 is good) program, that's when you see things bump to 10,11 regular season wins, and consistent top status.

Look at Georgia, they aren't fixating on the portal. They have been built from the ground up. Took awhile for them to catch Bama, you might say based on head-to-head they still haven't passed them... but they're rolling along. We're not there yet, but I think we're building that way.

Per the 247 Team Talent Composite, we are #9 in talent.

A lot of the problem is our top end talent aren't top end contributors.

Just looking at the 5 stars:

Aaron Anderson: He's okay but not a superstar

Will Campbell: Obviously great

John Emery: Has never lived up to the hype, out for the year

Trey'Dez Green: A true freshman who won't be a massive contributor

Dominick McKinley: True freshman who won't be a massive contributor

Harold Perkins: High ceiling but not a consistent contributor

Sage Ryan: Average at best player

Javien Toviano: Missed most of camp with legal issues, likely won't be a major contributor

Da'Shawn Womack: Great rotational talent, especially in pass rush situations.

So out of nine 5 stars, we have one really good starter, some average guys, and a bunch of little to no contributions.

Are you an NFL fan? If so, can you tell me the defensive players you want to draft from LSU?

We used to have plenty, a guy or two on the line, at least 1 linebacker (usually more), and normally half the secondary.
I don't see one right now; you could say Perkins, but it's been 2 years since he's been special.

Just curious, what guys next year do you expect to make an impact day 1 and why do you expect it?

I think we're going to see a corner or safety.

He had basically the same level of production in 2023 as he did in 2022, just didn't have that one big game like 2022 Arkansas.

No.

I think we have young guys that will pan out and I think it takes more than an offseason to for coordinators and players to mesh. I think by year 5, this program will be dangerous.

would help if we had a billionaire fan that wanted another natty before he died tho.

Considering I'm not "TrouserTrout" yeah you did. It's really sad the best response you dumbasses can come up with is to hope the other person is as biased as you are and were. Or to stupidly accuse someone of being an alt. Your hypocrisy doesn't go away because you tell lies about the person exposing it.

Don't know yet, but I'm going on the "it's LSU, it's Corey Raymond making DBU" thing.

It's been a staple of LSU since Saban came, that we've had NFL guys in the secondary, guys that came in and elevated that part of the defense. Guys that can step in and play man coverage on your opponent's #1 WR. It goes to the "Louisiana is a hotbed of athletic talent" thing, and Raymond knows what that guy should look like, and can get them here.

Unless you subscribe to the theory Raymond is no longer relevant, and/or think Louisiana no longer has the athletes it used to produce.

To be fair, in 2023 he started 5 more games than in 2022, but he was also playing a different position so I’m not sure the stats are really comparable either way. People are just going to have to accept that he’s never going to have a game like Arkansas again.

year 5,

Probably gonna be a new starting QB. We will be SOL especially if it's a running single threat one dimensional QB that throws as an after thought like this board adores.

Right. And that one game is what got everyone excited, because we thought it was the start of something big.

Regarding Perkins- he made some preseason 1st Team All American teams this year. I'm not saying he's bad, but do you think he's worthy of that? You think he's going to be on the postseason All American teams?
