You’re missing he point.

Aranda runs the defense

If O could fix the offense himself he would have last year. So again we need someone besides our HC to actually coach the team.

So what is O doing?

What is Dabo doing? He doesn't run the offense nor the defense at Clemson. He's never been a coordinator.
Here's a news flash for you: most head coaches don't run either the offense or the defense. Stoops never ran the offense at OU. He really never ran the defense either even though it's his specialty.

Stop comparing O to successful coaches. It’s asinine and makes you look stupid.

I am Not asking the guy to call plays but Stoops and Dabo are more involved with their side of the ball than you’re giving them credit for.

And that’s s good thing because they actually know things.

If the brokedick was still around, yeah I would be excited about football. Just not LSU football. Geaux Saints would have been my battlecry.

Not as excited. I'd KNOW that the offense would be underachieving and we'd have to rely on a great defense again, AND I'd know exactly the redundant offensive approach we'd take. Now, it's possible to likely that our offense will underachieve (based on youth and coaching turnover), but at least I also KNOW that we'll be changing things.

I would be less excited due to knowing we would be running the same ole Les offense which would severly limit the teams chances of beating the better teams on the schedule.

it had a debilitating effect on the team and was why the program was on the precipice of a downward spiral.

Yes expectations would be higher with Miles.

but we would never achieve those expectations with Miles in recent years.

I least with O I know the Defense is still in just as capable hands, that kick off team won't be going for corner kicks that generally dribble out of bounds giving the opponent starting position on the 35, and the offense at least has a chance to be an asset and not an anchor to the aspirations of the team.

Player talent is more important than any coach normally. Unless we're talking about Paul 'bear' Bryant.

His last year we went in as odds on favorite to win the SEC and ranked #4 in the country.

No fricking way anyone with any football knowledge thought we were a contender that year. We were not impressive prior to bama game then got our arse beat 3x in a row in november

the last couple seasons of les I couldn't get excited as much as normal because by then we knew the promise of trying something different with the offense was just a lie. we knew what we were going to get - pretty boring football. on top of that, les had lost his mojo for playing that style. when he was winning you could overlook the excruciating painful spectacle that was lsu football. once we couldnt' win a big game anymore, no, I couldnt' get excited.

I still watched and loved the tigers, but I was mired in the reality. it wasn't going to get any better.

When do you think we’re gonna our recruit Alabama?

We need to be smart not just good, because there are teams who are going to be both.

The last 3-4 years was hard to watch. I love winning but I hated not putting away bad teams when you clearly had the talent advantage. We never did that outside of a few years with miles and we never really got the chance to develop qb's with actual game time experience.

I suppose that's why the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll both had LSU ranked #4 going into the month of November, and the Playoff Selection Committee had LSU ranked #2 at the start of November.

But none of those people know anything. Topwater Trout is smarter than any of those folks. Perhaps you should start ranking the top 25 teams so the rest of us can get real, accurate rankings.

No, frick no we weren't. But by God we've been impressive since Miles was canned.

It really wasn't meant to be a direct comparison just an acknowledgement that head coaches have different roles than a coordinator. It's like saying a CEO has to be great at marketing, finance, R&D, product management, logistics, etc. BTW, Dabo was never a coordinator. He hired a great defensive guy in Venables after Steele bombed and several great OC's. He also had a losing season in his second year as the full time head coach at Clemson.

"Swinney was an unpopular hire among some Clemson fans. Some fans and pundits criticized his lack of coordinator let alone head coaching experience, as well as the fact that he had been on the staff of fired coach Tommy Bowden"... Sound familiar?
