I must have been on vacation when the Board was given a voice in the hiring process.....just like every other decision...the boards opinion doesnt mean squat.....

We know Alleva will go for a cheap replacement.

On Stansbury
I agree he's not the best hire; however, history does not treat him well and it's not justifiable to me. He had a few teams I can remember that were legit Final 4 teams based on talent.
His best team was Zimmerman, Bowers, Mario Austin. They lost in the first round to Butler that year, and success in March ultimately cost him.
He also was hit harder than just about anyone with early NBA draft entrants. He had Johnathan Bender, Monta Ellis, and Travis Outlaw all committed. All were 5 star players. He had Jackson on lockdown at one point, and that city puts out a lot of talent.
If any one of those players had stayed instead of going to the draft, history treats Stansbury differently. He was a defensive guy who was big on rebounding. I don't think he'd be my first call, but he's not Brady.

Scheyer. Dude will be a head coach at a major conference school in 6-7 years and will dominate. Why not LSU now.

I wonder if Randy Bennett at St. Mary's would leave St. Mary's. He's basically done all he can do at that school. He's never going to be better than Gonzaga. He has incredible recruiting connections in Australia. He's basically turned a nothing program, into a perennial NCAA tourney team by piggy-backing on Gonzaga's success and a bunch of kids from one Australian sport school. His teams consistently rank as the most efficient offensively in the country.
(I made this case last basketball coaching search, so maybe Bennett is happy at St. Mary's.)

God forbid fans have a discussion about who they think should/could be the next HC. Then again, why should anyone here have a discussion when we could just listen to your "all knowing" assertions?
Forgive us for having the audacity to have a reasonable discussion. Please resume telling everyone on the board just how smart you are and how their thoughts are completely incorrect.

No attack on or defense of A26. Just want to add my 2 cents.
I agree with the consensus here, that JJ should be gone.
I point out that in spite of that consensus he is not yet gone.
But in the hope that he will be gone end of season I have not the foggiest idea who should next come to LSU.
And since Alleva is still the highly $$$ profitable LSU AD, I'm sure he will have a lot to do with who is hired. Despite Rant opinions.
So I am hoping he somehow stumbles upon a coaching diamond in the rough and brings him to LSU. Whether that candidate is seasoned or an up and comer, my one certainty is he will do a better job than JJ is and recently has. At least short term.

To be completely honest No, but if our program became one that was going to the tournament every year and then generating a profit instead of just costing money then, yes he would be worth every penny!
I agree, but I'm not sure we will pay enough.
Hell, I think Wade at VCU is making the same as Jones. I love VCU, but that's a problem.

I would take Wade in a heartbeat, I would take Wade's replacement at his previous school, UT Chattanooga, Matt McCall. McCall is someone we could get. He's making 232,000 right now and is a Florida grad and former manager and GA under Donavan. I'm sure he would kill to coach in the SEC

I know it's just impossible, but Ric Pitino.
Stansbury, meh

McDermott from Creighton would be a great hire IMO but he will probably end up at a school where basketball is the #1 sport unless he stays at Creighton.

Wichita State coach been there for 18 years and makes $3,300,000 and you think we have a realistic chance to get him to move here? Hahahahahahahhahahha!

I hope we keep Jones.
I understand that opinion is not shared by everyone, however.

Why would you want to keep him? He's incompetent

This season is far from what we want, granted.
But I invite you to look at a list of winning percentages of LSU basketball coaches, and see where Coach Jones is.

I don't care. Choking in the tournament, not making the tournament, and this season is grounds for termination when coupled with his poor recruiting

Please come back down from another planet.......the guy you want makes more money than LSU's head football coach. No chance.
