His 2001 team was worse than this one. Skip is not a good reference point. This isn’t high school man. Hell, my Juco team was better than this one in 1967. I mean, when it is between the ears, you can believe that the worse thing to do is practice more. It adds pressure. You want your players to relax and have fun. This team is missing the ability to flush it and it just compounds. Same players as last year. Baffles the shite out of me.

It’s most definitely mental. These players are very aware of their fielding issues. That being said, it is also his job to figure out how to get this out of their heads and have them fielding the ball with confidence again. With talks, with extra fielding reps, with drills etc. If he’s been hard on them, take a different approach and lighten things up but while also challenging them. Ask them if they scared of a little white ball.

Absolutely the opposite I would do because dim sure he has already done this since the fall. He has to start pulling players out of the starting lineup and sacrificing offense. Put Bianco at SS, Doughty at third, Berry at DH and Merrifield at 2nd. That is the best he can do for this club.
Gio absolutely need to keep playing. And Dugas better improve or his arse needs to get out of the starting line-up.

What about the players that were here last year that suddenly forgot to field a ball? Am
I to believe that Johnson taught them how to boot a grounder and miss a fly?

frick, these fundamentals are stuff a high school team should do. These guys are snakebit right now.

It’s cold outside….. Relax y’all.. all that matters is regionals and supers. I’d rather get the hips yips and dips now and put it all together instead of looking for wins vs losses at this point. Omaha is the prize. I remember having all the pieces, rankings and aces, and lost miserably to Stoney Brook. So let’s keep the pressure on but let’s also keep it in perspective. We have seen a lot better offense over the last 5 games, now the defense needs to find its groove. I see JJ messing with the roster some more until it clicks. Too much talent on this team for this not to be just growing pains. IMHO Geaux Tigers!

Hey douche bag, can you do us all a favor and explain where the frick you were for the Saturday and Sunday games against Florida and the ulm game . I think you missed the game thread for the Aggie win.

What is it with you, you don’t show up until we have a bad game or inning . You were nowhere to be found when we played well and when jay made some moves that paid off.

You don’t like the move with Dutton starting or the switch we made in the infield? Nowhere to be found after Hilliards last couple outings that were great moves

Wtf is up with that? Do you not enjoy being in the game threads when we were winning our previous 3 games. Nowhere to be found when we were leading tonight. Nowhere to be found until we lose the lead and nowhere to be found after the jobert homer and comeback. As soon as those last two innings were over, you show back up to shite on the team once it’s over.

frick that, I despise people like you and I’m not sure that there is a single soul on this board who doesn’t want you to go frick yourself

frick you, you suck . You come in here drunk as frick and unable to even type out coherent sentences in the game thread . Either you’re drunk or don’t know the English language

Btw to the people wondering about practice. I happen to know for a fact that this team has been practicing every aspect of infielding and have been taking more ground balls then just about any team in any year that you could possibly think of.

Even Ben said that they are working on it to a point that it may be too much and hurting them mentally.

I don't think he's not addressing it. As in he's dismissive of the errors or unwilling to acknowledge them.

I don't see it being like that.

I will say that the errors need to be corrected. I think we can all agree on that. Todd Walker said it best in the broadcast tonight, "if you can't catch the ball, you're not going to make it in SEC play."

I understand the frustration about it, I'm right there too but I'm not about to go around screaming for the guy to get fired.

We'll see how the team responds. Some of this is a learning moment for Johnson.

Last week, we lost the opener to Florida and then blew it open in the next two games.

I've thought this for a while now. They're overthinking things.

Calm down and do the routine things.

They have to play themselves out of it. Hopefully it gets better. Errors are like hitting its contagious unfortunately. I do think that Berry needs to sit for a bit.

Get the frick out with this bullshite. Are you basing this of off the fact that Gio has a .264 BA & .394 OB% while Dugas has a .303 BA & .495 OB %? I like Gio and want him to stay in the lineup, but you're just pulling shite out of your arse for no reason.

How? You actually think they don’t take hundreds of grounders and forgot simple baseball?

No, I don't think they forgot simple baseball. I do think it's possible that they don't focus on they fundamentals of defense and situational hitting enough though.

Yeah I'm sure he hasn't said a single word about the errors all season. Just a simple "That's okay. Get em next time fellas!"

He has addressed the errors. He has switched up the defensive lineup multiple times. One of our best defenders was the one who struggled, that is not going to happen very often. Morgan is an elite defensive 1st Baseman.

A coach can set the lineups and positions but at some point the players just need to make plays. The team has gotten better and will continue to.

After every loss y'all come out of the woodworks to scold him but when he wins y'all are nowhere to be found.

Agree to an extent. Players still needs reps and proper coaching throughout. There are MLB players that still get coached everyday on how to improve on defense.

Outside of 2 games against Florida, have they really gotten that much better defensively though?

I praised the team and Johnson after the Florida series. Saturday and Sunday he changed some things up and they came out with a ton of intensity. You didn't see that last night.

You do realize that is happening? The players are constantly being coached and taking fielding practice in order to improve.

Inserting Gio in the lineup has made the defense much better than when Berry was playing RF. Thompson has played better at 2nd than he has at SS.

Morgan had a bad game but has consistently been elite at 1st. So yes the team has improved and gotten better defensively.

The intensity is still there, you will see it again tonight. One bad inning is really all that happened last night, and its unfortunate we did not overcome it and win the game.
