What makes the first game any more relevant than the 5th as far as importance of winning goes?
some fans may disagree and will be wrong but no OOC game is more important than any of our 8 conference games.

Given the committee's clear preference to rely solely on overall record, I'd say that every game on the schedule is equally important.
Getting to Atlanta only matters if you need the conference championship game to get into the playoff.

Can we atleast get to the spring game or practice without the doom and gloom

I have been saying for awhile that for Kelly to win back the majority of the fan base he had to do 4 things.
Win remaining games, this was prior to Vanderbilt and he delivered this. Sign a good recruiting class, while getting dudes from the Portal, half check on this pending some Safety’s. Win the Bowl game and the start the season with the W at Clemson. Bowl game is the least important depending on the way we loose it can be forgiven.
He HAS to start with a W next year.

Good lord there are some hard headed people on this board. Clearly the "committee" doesn't value SOS over wins/losses. It is a clear disadvantage to be in the SEC now.
If Cade Klubnik comes back for Clempsun, not good for us. We can't beat a lousy USCw team at a neutral site? BK's teams haven't opened with a true road game. We lost the last two games on the road at legit stadiums. I have no faith he can pull it off.
It will count against us, no matter what you say.
And what indications did you see that BK's team got better this year? Did I miss something? 11-1 aint happening either.
I won a bet with my buddy this year. After witnessing the USCw game, I said we go 8-4, he said 10-2. I hope I'm wrong about next year.

It'll be the first time in program history the school has lost six opening games in a row. We're now tied for the longest stretch from '91-'95.

If CBK loses to Clemson and the fourth season opener in a row
I'll be pissed. Just like I am almost every time LSU loses. I will likely criticize him for things that go wrong. I will wait until the end of the season to make an assessment on how that season goes.

0-1 start
Most LSU fans are kind of used to starting the season 0-1 now. I mean any name that was a somebody at one point seems to get that first win against LSU. Could have scheduled Neb and they would have probably beat us. As much crap as we give Les we were usually 5 -0 or close to it when we got to UF game.

Who is 2026 season opener

The melt will be all-time, but in truth if we finish 10-2 or better, it does not matter where the losses came from because we'll be in the playoff and possibly the SEC Championship. It would definitely be nice to get the first game monkey off of our backs though.

conference games are more important bc we are trying to win our conference every year. You really believe that if we had beaten USC and lost to SC our position in the playoff would be better this year?
Also where we finish in the SEC matters more than winningan OOC game...if we don't finish top 4 in SEC we won't be making the playoff...hell this year the 4th place team missed the playoff.

Let's say Clemson is ranked number 5 and LSU ranked 15/16. LSU loses by a field goal. You saying you are done with BK for losing to a higher ranked team on the road bc it is the 4th season opener he lost?
If the team is blown out and not prepared, I would be worried. If it is a close loss I would not be concerned. To ask these questions in December when the roster is still taking place is crazy. You have already made up your mind and seeking validation from others.

LSU hardly matters when it comes to the polls, especially the AP.
If LSU is #15 and blows out #5 Clemson at Clemson's house, the polls would move LSU to maybe #13.
However if LSU was like #5 and lost to #6 Ohio St on a last second field goal at the Horseshoe, the polls would have LSU drop 10-15 slots.
If it was #5 Alabama losing to Ohio St, they would maybe drop to #9.
The polls are made up of voters who have their favorite teams regardless of their record and how the games play out.
LSU always seems likely to be left out.

Already done with him. Dude will never win a national championship at LSU.

Nobody is handing over $60 Million to fire a coach that has an 8 - 5 record. That is an insane thought.
But then again, baseball players are getting 3/4 BILLION contracts.

He has only been the coach for 3 years. The first season opener they lost by 1 point bc of a blocked extra point. Daniels led the team 90 plus yards in the final minute to score a TD. Special teams were bad that year and he replaced them. LSU went on to win the SEC West which no one predicted
The second year the defense was a disaster. Had nothing to do with being unprepared they were not good. FSU went undefeated. Not like it was a fluke loss. Kelly made changes to the defense.
This year season opener LSU played good but USC made a few plays better. Their QB was under pressure and their WRs caught the balls that were 50/50. Can't say not prepared bc those are just dumb luck plays. Nuss missed a few throws late that could have changed the game.
To say BK had the teams unprepared is not true. Disappointed in the losses? Sure. Season opener win or loss in the CFP era does not matter much. No matter who they play. It will be SEC play that determines the success of the season.
