The meh was already here when Woody arrived. Fargas, Fran, O, Maineri were going south. Wade was the best of the Alleva legacy, and even that had stank on it. Face it, athletics was going in the shitter under Alleva and it needed new leadership. Woody has done what’s been needed so far.
Woody’s legacy and his length of tenure here will be solely based on CBK. And frankly it’s a very, very solid hire. Mulkey and McMahon are also solid coaches. And he didn’t have much of a choice in having to replace WW. Jay Clark at gym has not been proven to be an upgrade from DD yet and is still shaky at times. And if Jay Johnson has to be replaced in 3 years it ain’t much in the grand scheme of things, but let’s see.
But make no mistake, he has forced all these coaches out. For better or worse.

He's top 3 (behind Saban and Mack Brown) yet he still doesn't have an FBS national title. He's in his 60s and is in the first year of a 10 year contract coaching in a region he's never been anywhere near.
The hire may work, but it's risky. People say that the money doesn't matter, they can always fire him even though it's guaranteed. But the moment Woody gave him that much money, Woody put his career on the line. He can't just fire Kelly and keep his job. If Kelly goes, Woody goes. So Woody is going keep Kelly around as long as possible even if they struggle to save his own job.

Kelly scares me. Great coach, but a horrible cultural fit. Not saying I want some coonass by any means, but is an old Irish Catholic guy from Massachusetts going to play well in Southern living rooms? We will see. I hope for the best, but I was jot totally theilled with the hire, although he is a 1000% upgrade over Yaw Yaw.

I was a Wade supporter, but McMahon could very well be like Musselman instead of Mike White. Could go either way, but we don't know anything yet.

My comment about the cultural fit wasnt about fan acceptance, it was more about recruiting and getting black kids from the South to buy in. Time will tell and I hope I am wrong.

Should have said current coach by wins. My bad but I stand by my point. Brian Kelly is the most accomplished FB coach LSU has ever hired and it’s not even close. Will it work out I don’t know but you have to be optimistic based off what we’ve seen so far. LoSame with KM. Woodward didn’t just hire some scrubs.
