IDK why I got my expectations so high for Woody hires.

Woody is a great guy but he has a clear track record of meh hires and that includes Kim Mulky because women’s basketball really doesn’t pull that much weight in the overall LSU sports scheme of things. CBK can turn Woody’s track record around really quick with a New Year’s bowl bid next year but setting those expectations is setting yourself up for disappointment. This football team was decimated by CEO with only 38 scholarship players, LSU plays in the SECW, and still a lot of holes in the football team despite the portal. Realistically this is a 7 to 8 win team next season.
Basketball is looking like a total rebuild. I don’t need to go into the details. Everyone knows.
And this baseball product? I know it’s early but what a disappointment so far.
With all that said LSU sports are preforming in accordance with Woody’s meh track record. I shouldn’t be surprised. Woody is an establishmentarian. He’s not going to take chances and push boundaries. He going to be risk adverse and play is close to the vest.
I’m setting my expectations for LSU sports at meh for the next three years. Don’t want to get too disappointed.

This was so obvious from his hires at the Aggies. I’ve been saying this for years. I’ve been hammered for this. Dude is destroying lsu sports. And he’s handing out massive contracts that are going to bury lsu for so long

You do realize we needed new coaches in baseball and football because our programs were headed in a terrible direction. It takes time to become elite again. It doesn’t happen overnight.

Yeah but the Orgeron extension was Woodward’s fault. So let’s not ignore that.
Brian Kelly is the only hire that we should have any hope for. But if for some reason he isn’t successful we are going to be stuck with a massive contract like the Aggies are with Jimbo.
And it’s looking like he made a poor baseball hire. The team is worse everywhere. Pitching I understand but there is no excuse for everything else.

If these hires don’t work out LSU sports are screwed for a decade. Simply based on Woody’s track record my confidence is not high.

Jimbo Fisher and Buzz Williams have zero SEC titles and no CFP or NCAAT appearances. Just because you spend the most money doesn’t mean you are hiring the best coaches.

I think Brian Kelly is a good coach. I have my concerns of him not winning on the big stages but he can get much better talent here. Hopefully he can get it turned around but like you I am concerned because of Woodward’s history of hires.

The extension happened after a natty, putting up a team that pundits have called the best team in the sport’s history by margins that weren’t close.
Seems unfair to apply hindsight to it. He gets a pass

Why is everyone freaking out? Women's basketball is the fastest growing sport in the US according to that Buick commercial. Is it a bad thing to be good at women's basketball?
LSU is similar to the 1980s La Tech program that dominated the sport. Do the other sports suck? Yes. But women's basketball could become a revenue generator in 7 to 10 years.
Instead of complaining, accept reality and embrace it. Go buy some Lady Tigers gear and take pride in being a women's power program.

Me as well. Highly overrated, weak and incompetent. Aggie was happy to see him go. LSU will be digging out of the Woodward debacles for years.

So now KM is a meh hire ? Brian Kelly resurrected a true blue blood ND that was dead nationally and made them relevant again. Also top 3 in wins all time in CFB is now a meh hire ? This is a battered wife syndrome fan base. The St Peters coach has won more tournament games in one year than WW has his entire HC tenure and we act like he is irreplaceable? Yep baseball looks rough right now but step away from the ledge.

Overspending for underperformers? Because thats exactly what he has produced. Kim and BK are potentially his best hires
