So he can undermine the new coach the way he did Miles? O doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near the LSU program.

I'm still Pro Orgeron.
Its best for the program if he turns it around.
There is no guarantee a new coach will be successful.
(See Jimbo)
Orgeron is a great recruiter. The state is full of blue chip recruits. We need to keep them in state. If LSU wins, we keep Orgeron, we keep the recruits.
If we lose the next two games, it's time to clean house.

After last year, O was given the same second chance that Les was given after 2015. Fix the problems. UCLA was the same as Wisconsin in Green Bay under Les. The problems were not fixed. Both men were/are in completely over their heads.

Ed is a .500 coach. Joe Burrow and a slew of 1st round picks in 2018 and 2019 were an anomaly.

When it was reported he hired Bo Pelini without so much as interviewing him. I knew he was asleep at the wheel and needed to go. 2019 was great but he’s reverted back to yaw yaw footbaw again.

I sold my season tickets shortly after they hired him….Les Miles to Ed was as stupid to me then as it is now….We hired a man that can NOT coach either side of the ball….just stupid…and they double down stupid with hiring a Marxist woke garbage peddler as President of the University system…This guy will hire the next coach not Woodward…

I'm not quite done with him yet, after 10/2 I'll form a better opinion. I'll give the coordinators time to figure things out. We still are not sure on how good UCLA is, they play #19 ASU on 10/2 and then Oregon on 10/23.

Honest question, if UCLA turns out to be a top 15 team does that make the performance LSU gave acceptable?

If so, prepare for 7-5, and best, while being dominated by Auburn, Florida, Alabama and aTm. It’s cool though, right? Those teams are just really good.

Some of the stuff last year was bad luck - but not all of it.

Talking shite about Aranda, then proceeding to hire the worst defensive coordinator in probably the last 3 decades, then stating how great the defense was... Plus the naked selfies... This had nothing to do with covid. These were mistakes that no competent coach should make.

I realized O was probably not the man for the job last year. I wanted him to be successful, and still do, unfortunately the ship has sailed.

Why?

Being the head coach for the greatest football season LSU has ever known will do that for a coach.

A better question would be, why would anyone expect a different result based off what we knew about Coach O when he was hired at LSU??

One cannot bring in coordinators to allow them to "figure things out" in the SEC. That is lunacy.

UCLA game. During the offseason, I was giving Ed the benefit of the doubt, thinking 2020 was some sort of mulligan, with all the ridiculous covid restrictions, losing his starting quarterback, the opt outs, and all difficulties that ensued as a result of that.

After hiring two new coordinators, and with all the talent Ed has accumulated, and with the way he has been talking all off season, I expected LSU to come out looking like a really good football team in Pasadena.

After seeing Chip Kelly exploit the same weaknesses that plagued the 2020 team, and seeing that we had absolutely no answer for it, it became evident that Ed is in over his head.

Then on top of that, you have the women, the fishing camp incident, and who knows what else. It's time to move on, and find somebody who can competently lead this program going forward.

NO, NO, NO!!

For a team like LSU, we should NOT hire unproven coordinators and let them cut their teeth here.

NO!

I thought this entire O experiment was to pay him less and hire the best coordinators. I thought that was absolute nonsense at the time (and posted that here, many times), but now that's entirely out the window.

You think Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, etc. hire newbie coordinators and give them time to figure things out?

Good lord.

You nailed it again. So, I'm supposed to sit in the stands and get excited for the game?? We do not make ANY in-game adjustments. None, Zero, Zilch, Nada.

Honestly I’m pro-LSU so I guess I’m pro-Ed

I hope they win every game from here on out.

I try not to get to emotionally attached to each coach.

If he goes 7-5 or worse then he has to be replaced.

The uncomfortable question is- who replaces him that’s for sure better.

Emotional responses will say “anyone” or some unproven guy like Napier but we don’t know for sure.

Clearly he’s in over his head but he can recruit his arse off.

I think if you fire him at 8-4, you better have a slam dunk ready.

LSU, just like Tennessee, Miami and Florida State, is one bad coaching hire away from irrelevance. Can’t allow that. So the hire better be a great coach and a dominant recruiter
