Beth did a great job. Her time here at LSU has become complacent. The assistant coaches are not the problem. She needs to move on and Woodward will bring in a big gun. I say offer Mike Candrea a large sum to come out of retirement and become LSU's next head coach

I doubt he makes a change w Beth. I would be shocked if she isn’t told to make changes. We are good. but we are light years away from winning championships.

Luring someone about of retirement isn’t a long term success

The sad thing is that I think apathy has set in in the fanbase. I was there for both games today and that was by far the worst attended Saturday/Sunday in a regional that I've ever been to here. The park probably wasn't half full.

This might be the thing that tips the scale. Lack of attendance the last few years might just be her downfall.

I agree with the apathy, for the last 5 years with a steady decline. OU and Texas will only make it worse as LSU will fall to a middle of the pack team.

Woodward seems to hold the other sports and coaches accountable for their programs. I hope that he will do the same for softball. You have the facilities to attract top level coaches and recruits.

I guess only time will tell, without some change the result will be the same next year, with less fans attending and watching from home.

Lol who cares? Softball is the only sport in which they are competitive on a national level. Let them enjoy their highlight of the athletic year. They’re a softball school for goodness sake

UL or LSU, Which state schools football program finished ranked in the top 25 two of the last three years?

UL or LSU, Which men’s basketball program represented the state in the NCAA tournament this season?

UL or LSU, Which softball program is advancing to the Super Regionals.

If we are not competitive nationally and only a softball school does that make you just a women’s basketball school now?

Have a nice day,

Very well said. It competing for championships is LSU's goal, things will need to change. If you want to be good keep things the same and watch the fan base start to dwindle.

Welcome to the SEC Oklahoma and Texas! Let your dominance begin.

If Torina is the coach next year that's an indication that Woodward doesn't give two shits about softball.

Unless Torina can raise significant NIL revenue to buy a couple all world pitchers then get a coach with a championship pedigree to take over the program.

Tough call for Woody. Fire the coach who gets a regional 10 seed? I get it, but the coach you want to hire might be thinking.. Hmmm... Now, she has been here for 12 seasons.

Ed Orgeron and Mike Budenholzer say hello.

Of course she's gone! How in the hell do you let a freshman pitcher and the catcher screw up in the last inning. Torino didn't make any adjustments nor did she stop time to go out on the mound in the last inning to make sure everyone was on the same page. If I saw it. You better bet your arse Woodward saw it. It's like she didn't care and is complacent.

I love LSU softball and I want to see the program improve, but I think we have to be more realistic and objective in these kinds of assessments. The program has fallen from the heights Torina created, but it is still consistently better than most of the programs at LSU. Gymnastics, Track and Beach Volleyball are really the only programs that are consistently better with Football and Women’s Basketball the only other ones with more recent championship contention. The head coaches in quite a few other sports should be on the chopping block before Torina.

A good AD does not "pull the plug" unless he has an option that is almost 100% guaranteed to be better than what he has now.

Despite what some of the dipshits here think, there is NOT another Mulkey waiting in the wings for softball. You don't fire a coach who has been as successful as Torina has been just for the sake of making a change UNLESS you have someone better lined up, and that list in softball is very very small.

The last few years have "sucked", but probably about 95% of the other programs in the nation would love to "suck" also if that is the standard.

This is why I think she will be heavily edged to make changes to her staff. But without adjustments her days are likely numbered. Not to be “nega tiger” but we are getting worse and worse the further we get from the Hoover and Walljasper era. Throw in Texas and OU joining the SEC, things will be hell of a lot more difficult

I think there were signs of improvement this season compared to last season, but not enough to say the program is definitely headed in the right direction. I think the results of the games yesterday were not indicative of the quality of the team this year, but a second year in a row not even making Supers is cause for assessing the state of the program and putting certain expectations in place that must be met or it is time to move on. I think at a minimum LSU needs to host a Super Regional or make the WCWS next season. Heavener just seems like the type of recruit that could change the trajectory of this program and I’d hate to pull the plug ahead of time unless absolutely necessary.

I think Torina will be the coach again next season. There is only one Oklahoma and they will not be surpassed during Torina's tenure. I think Woodward is content with a program making the regionals every year when it comes to Softball. We lost to a better team this weekend. Can't wait to see how we do in Clearwater in February.

But was she a top player? She apparently was not ready to excel this season. However, the Poncho girl from her same HS team was a top contributor for McNeese this season and had a great regional performance this weekend against UDUB
