re: I think more people would stay for the full games if kickoff was earlier.

I still say reliable wifi throughout the stadium would be one of the biggest things getting people to stay longer. A lot of people, especially younger ones, don't want to be without any service for 3 hours.

You might be ripe for it but whining like that won’t get you any. I’m 71, live in Metairie and got home at 1:15am Sunday. I saw the last play from my seats. Traffic is there no matter what time the game starts.

I attend every home Sec game and I live 2.5 hours away. I always leave with 3-4 minutes left in game and usually stuck in traffic for just 20 minutes compared to the 1-1.5 hours if you leave when game ends. Its a no brainer for me to get home at 1ish instead of 2:30. Is what it is.

In the old days.....like the 60's when I was at LSU, the stadium was smaller, the games started at 8pm and it was dark. No shootings, just good fun. I miss those days. Sorry for reminiscing, but you guys would have loved it also.

stupid time to get rid of them. Have you seen the home games for next year? absolute bangers

Right, so you’re in your 20’s and an A-rate pussy. Got it.

There will be traffic whether you wait until the end of the game or you are stuck in it listening to the end of the game on the radio.
Leave with 3-5 minutes left in game, you are in traffic 15 minutes compared to 1-1.5 hours

But these “7pm” kickoffs where the first snap isn’t actually until like 7:25pm is a bit much.
The fact is the LSU culture has become soft.
I know this board DESPISES the aTm fans, and say what you will, BUUUUUT they STAY THE WHOLE GAME, and STAND for most of it.
It’s a culture thing, not a clock thing.

You are in your 20s and you cant handle tailgating and staying for the entire game at night you are a bitch. I'm almost 40 and do it with ease. Did the tide pods mess with your stamina that much?

Light weight. I don’t get back to NWLA until around 3:30am. Stay in stadium until the band plays the Alma Mater then head out. I happily do it every time we go down to a game.
I also come down from NWLA. Usually make 2 games a year. We always book a hotel somewhere between Baton Rouge and Lafayette or Opelousas. Always stay until clock hits zero and while yes there is quite a bit of traffic, I don’t think it’s as bad as some of the wussies on this board make it out to be. We are generally in our hotel room by midnight.
The stadium experience is not what it once was but it is still one of my favorite places to be. I look forward to every game.

Son, in my day the kickoffs used to be at 8:00 P M. for every home game unless it was THE annual nationally televised game against Ole Miss or Alabama.

People that leave early because of “traffic” more than once a year should have their ticket buying privileges revoked for life

Just....why? What if it is a close game, which it was vs SC?

Less people would go into the stadium.

People care more about getting blackout drunk at the tailgates than watching the game. When you buy an LSU football ticket there’s an expectation to hold your end of the bargain and live up to the standard of Death Valley. Anyone leaving early and not living up to this standard needs to stay home.

Then you add in the classic 4 hour ABC commercial-ridden broadcast
This is the bigger issue. People lost their minds when LSU UF 2007 went nearly 3.5 hours. That's the standard now and it has destroyed the flow of the game.

Middle of the 3rd, tie game, and people are already heading for the exits.
It’s not about how close the game is, and you’re wrong about the whole “show up and show out” thing. What made the old days great was the consistency — it didn’t matter if the game was close or not. And when you did get an unexpected nail-biter, the crowd locked in and tried to change the outcome.
And honestly, if you’re leaving because of traffic no matter the score, I really question how much of a fan you even are at this point in your life.
People treat Tiger Stadium like a right instead of the privilege it used to be.

You must have missed the complete meltdown over the UCLA game last year and how hot it was

Wasn’t there supposed to be proposed legislation that made all the kickoffs, in September, evening games? This October has been more “mild” than usual.

You are overlooking the fact that when LSU has earlier kickoff times, the fans still leave early. Especially when it is not a good game, against a great/rivalry team.
