I’ll wait to temper expectations until we see who is here.

With NIL and the transfer portal turn around can happen fast. The playoffs aren’t out of the question but also 3-4 losses could be as well.

People act like the portal is Walmart. All stocked up with everything you need. There actually has to be value entering the portal. And right now, you ain’t building an OL in the portal

Anything less than 10 wins (including bowl game) and he needs to feel pressure.

That would be a good season given the record and the rebuild. Finish in the upper half of the SEC and beat Ole Miss and I’m happy.

I mean we are spending 40 mil in NIL

That’s not a firm number. And you never know how the new team will gel. We’ve told almost all of our o-line that they weren’t worthy of last years NIL hence their portal announcements and an o-line takes time to gel.

The age of tempering expectations is over with the availability of the transfer portal.

I’m tempering my expectations more because the schedule will be brutal. I think Kiffin will put together a good roster, but 9-3 may be the ceiling with this schedule.

Completely new system, environment, attitude, etc. Will take time to put it all together, no one should expect miracles next season. But, if nothing else, I hope to see better play calling with less predictability. We will need a very good dual threat QB and of course, some quality O-line players. I couldn't believe how some of our linemen just completely wiffed on pass protection and didn't seem to have a clue on who or what to do on a blitz! Tough schedule next season, I would be very happy with a 9-3 record next year.

Lane needs to make a statement next year. Not a championship but a statement that we are moving in that direction. There’s way too much money being spent to give him a pass.

I don't care for rationalizations and excuses already before we even know what we have next year. And I bet Lane don't either.

you need QB’s plural, another RB, a couple receivers, a whole offensive line, defensive linemen..not to mention your evals are going to have to be spot on.

Eh, this sounds bad, but a lot of programs are In the same boat. So the playing field is going to be more level than most think. I don’t think Texas has a RB on their roster right now

The quality of players in the portal has gone down every year. Are there some gems? Sure. But NIL is keeping the better players in the barn nationally.

Ole miss had 20 new starters last season and won 11 games.

Expectations should be high.

That’s because expectations are always wrong. The result is a byproduct of your preparation, your intelligence and your effort. If you go 9-3 with 3 close losses to really good teams where you played well people can live with it. If you go 9-3 with bone head losses, blowouts or losses to inferior teams people won’t like it.

I'll set my expectations when I see the finalized roster.

We have a lot of work to do. I trust the Lane Train!
