He keeps the heat and criticism off his bosses, no controversial off field issues.

That's all the leadership at LSU wants, winning record and no criticism.

Saban went 8-5 in his third year here.
My bad it was year 4. I guess Miles and O are in a league of their own winning a championship so quickly.

Some of you are forgetting just how bad some of the Les and Orgeron games got when it was bad, and it shows.

I mean the transfer portal is available.
So he may have inherited a worse situation than both those guys it's easier to build a roster to win in year one this era than those guys era.
You can go get a top 20 QB in the portal in this era that is able to play in year one. In those guys era you had what you had for at least 2 years.
ED O found that out until 2019.

He sits there with a terrible defense and continued to get 3 star DTs.

Miles pissed away some of the more talented teams we've ever had because he was too stubborn to change. A lot of those teams were undisciplined and didn't execute either against you guessed it, Alabama.

Kelly is at least proactive in addressing his teams flaws in the offseason, which is something Miles had no interest in doing.

He also doesn't dig in his ear with that moronic expression on the sidelines while he is getting outcoached.

I still kind of like O but Kelly never would've let his hand off the wheel to go chase tail at the expense of the program.

He also doesn't get up to the mic at a press conference and mumble with a cajun accent or just sit up there and say "We uhh.....we uhh......played a quality opponent"

Kelly has his problems to be sure. Even Saban consistently had problems on special teams while he was here and at Bama.

But Kelly is much more articulate than both Miles and O, which is a refreshing change of pace.

I think we are missing the flare Ed Orgeron brought to the table.

What we are missing is the "Joe Brady offense",".....fishing holes.....","we are going to fix it" etc.

I miss the time when the head coach was a shining example of how young gentlemen should behave around the ladies.

I always say a program should hire a coach whose intellect resembles that of the fan base.

That is why Ed was so good on the job. I love those 5-5, 6-7 type seasons. The ups, the down, winning on freakish 55 yard field goals in the middle of fog only possible after an opposing team player with a mensa grade IQ threw a shoe in order to draw an undportsmanlike penalty.

Remember how we battled Kansas State with 35 men on the roster. We became an equal opportunity program that day, allowing a wide receiver to start at QB.

Remember when our coach used to call out opposing fan bases ( 'sissy blue shirt' )

Remember when we earned our first defeat to a sun belt team.

Remember when our superstar OC and our superstar HC almost came to blows.

......I miss all that.
Now we do not see those 5-5, 6-7 seasons any more. Now we see 10-4, 10-3 seasons with Heisman QBs............. ??

And LSU was only favored / "supposed to" win 2 of those 6 games.

Miles and Orgeron were starting to lose the games they were "supposed to" win far too often.

He got Jarrick Bernard Converse, Greg Brooks, Joe Foucha and Mekhi Garner his first year, and they all were pretty decent.

Ashton Stamps and Zy Alexander have been solid and he's got DJ Pickett coming next year. I thought Denver Harris was going to be a stud as a transfer, but didn't pan out.

He got rid of Polian when it didn't work out as ST or Recruiting Coordinator and got rid of his entire defensive staff in 2023.

He then went out and got the best D-Line Coach in the country in Bo Davis and you can see it on the recruiting trail and on the field. He's getting those guys ready to play. Sure they aren't great, but they play hard and aren't exactly turnstiles like I thought they would be.

Again....Kelly is not infallible and has made plenty of mistakes, including talent evaluation, but that is far from Miles just refusing to adapt at all and O asking Pete Carroll who he should hire to coach his defense.

Orgeron flat out sort of quit on the program . When all the staff moved on to better jobs , he could have gone to admin and said “ Wow , I need some help getting new guys !” I think LSU would offer help and advice . But , I am sorry to say , he didn’t do that . I was pulling for Ed . He was colorful .

He brought in Suggs and Paez in the portal, McKinney, Washington and Breax in the recruiting class and hired Bo Davis

but he didn’t spend 3 million on Damonic Williams so I guess he doesn’t care.

He's won 72% of his games, which has been better than winning 50%.
