Some of you are forgetting just how bad some of the Les and Orgeron games got when it was bad, and it shows.

2021 saw O lose 6 games (the 7th is on Davis) - the loss margins were:

11, 5, 21, 14, 6, 3 (OT) - that is 60 points, so an average of a 10-point loss.

But, like with everything else, the turning point for O was 2020 Bama. 55-17 and it wasn't that close. He never recovered from that (it almost makes 2021 simultaneously irrelevant and inevitable), just as Kelly will likely never recover from the Bama loss on Saturday.

I’ve said before and I still believe it. At the time he was probably the best hire possible to stop the free fall and stabilize the program.

But the problem now is 2 fold.

1. He doesn’t seem like the kind of coach that can get over the hump. His teams are consistently unprepared game 1, and don’t typically perform well in big games (yes with some notable exceptions). He seems to be a CEO type coach that doesn’t really have his finger on the pulse of his team.

2. His contract really screwed us especially if things continue to stagnate or get worse. We are stuck with him for 3-4 more years

While I'm not a huge Kelly fan, fans are unrealistic. Look at Florida St. Kelly has put together solid recruiting classes. Nuss is not the answer, but what other option does he have? Sark has Texas money. Bama and Georgia both have an extremely talented roster. The SEC is loaded with quality teams. The defense has several average players and the QB is average. If LSU closes with the class it currently has verbals from, it will be a step in the right direction.

i guess you can say stability. he took a program that was in an absolute downward spiral, won the west (using lots of portal hits), still won 10 games in year 2 with a heisman (lots of portal misses) and still can finish 10-3 this year. thats 10, and 10, and 10, for a program that fired their coach who was no longer coaching or recruiting. this wasn't a year or 2 fix, even with portal hits in back to back years. this was a rebuild, based on what? i'll say it again, stability.

look, he may never win a championship here, but the way its going, if he's fired in 3-4 years while going 9-3 each year, the program will be leaps and bounds better than when he inherited it. its taking time through HS recruiting to get there. those saying he's soft, the D is soft, go look at the 1st half of the a&m game. our DL guys were clocking some ags lineman, standing over them, dominating them. this team has barely above average talent on the D, and zero depth. a mobile qb, and now injuries and just being thin to begin with, its why we've been gashed lately. the first half of the a&m game, we started to look like we belonged in the convo. but they made the switch, exposed our weaknesses and our lack of depth, and thats the recipe now until we get the horses, which, they are on the way.

At least with Miles and Orgeron the players fought like hell.

So Miles and Orgeron had more talent and the teams "fought like hell", yet they were somehow winning fewer games than Kelly?

How does that work?

bunch of emotional, reactionary clowns in here. no one is saying kelly is great and free from criticism, but shite man if you thought this defense was going to be good this year, with a ton of last years guys still starting, then your bad. they played above their heads for a portion of this season. fatigue and lack of depth and talent is just being exposed now. hopefully we can win at UF, then get ready for that dude from vandy. he's going to be tough.

In fact, I think MANY at the time were OK with a perennial 10 win program, occasional NC run.

A key point here is 10 REGULAR SEASON wins, not 9-3 with a shitty bowl win.

Let's ask Michigan if that's an important quality...

And aside from the pre-season ranking of #16 before the UCLA loss, LSU was unranked under Orgeron from 10/10/2020 (Mizzou loss) until the day he was fired and have been ranked every day under Kelly since Jayden Daniels walked into the endzone for the 2 point conversion in the win over Bama in 2022.

A loss is a loss as far as I'm concerned. There are no trophies in college football for losing close games, so it really doesn't matter to me all that much if we lose by 20 or we lose by 2.

1. EdO destroyed our entire program and left it in shambles. 11-12 his last 2 seasons.

2. Les Miles had enough talent most years but was a failure as a HC.

From the stories players tell, I think they fought each other more . No one, and I mean no one was enjoying the last 5-6 years of Miles. We scrapped by with no qb in sight. Defense kept us in any game. Everyone likes O for 2019, and that's it. It was a steady decline right after. Everyone wants a Saban and it's not going to happen. Everyone wants a title every year and it's not going to happen. I agree Saturday was an absolute shite show, but y'all seriously need to wake up to what college football is.

Kelley brings a lot more to the program than whining as posters who think that somehow this football team should be undefeated. We knew going into the season there was voids of talent still to resolve.
Do I wish he would have hit the portal and got a few guys, hell yes!!! However he is building the program with recruiting along with depth.
I figured this to be a 9-3 team at best.

Well we don't have undisciplined thugs beating their chests and dancing after making a tackle 10 yds downfield anymore.. so there's that.

If the 2025 class stays in tact, the next 3 years will be special

Too bad Moore flipped to Oregon or it could have been the greatest offensive recruiting class of all time
