Your post is the equivalent of diarrhea

In all fairness they gave Les 11 or 12 years.
Os had one.
I don't think it's too much to ask to see how the guy does this year and possibly next.
We have the potential to be really good football team. It's on his shoulders

OP you missed all together. Most of the objections against O are from those of us who have been with LSU for decades, invested in LSU- we don't run our businesses the way our AD is running the program and we don't understand why JA and O are being allowed to destruct our program.
And as an FYI unless O has a disaster of a season we will have him for an additional year- in 2020 JS's contract is up and he and O will be shown the door in 2021 if the program has not been turned around

your comment is bad and you should feel bad.

link? this sounds more like opinion than fact.

O had a hell of a comeback last year after a loss that would have thrown any other team into an absolute spiral...Don't give me that duke riley shite.
ok I won't. Gus Malzahn lost that game with some horrific play calls. member when LSU fans were irate at O not going for it on 4th down in the bowl game? that was auburn fans in October.

actually, just the opposite.
most of us were in the stadium in the late 80s and 90s and saw what crap looked like.
and we watched the shift from a solid program to crap.
without even trying, LSU has every built in advantage you could possibly ask for.
Location
Access to talent
Fan support
Facilities
Money
with those advantages in place, there is no excuse to not be consistently among the very best in the country.
and even in the 90s, we were saying that we should be competing for titles and the crap we were watching wasn’t good enough.
then came late 99/00.
Emmeret hired Saban and proved us right.
that with strong leadership, LSU could climb the mountain and stay there.
even Skip and Miles were strong enough leaders to keep us there a while.
now with Alleva and O, we’re back to how thing we’re done pre-‘00.
hires are being made that only make sense from a political standpoint rather than a football one.
that’s how the true decline of football started.
and it was nearly 20 years before we dug ourselves out of it completely.
those of us old enough to have seen it all, know this is how it starts.
and we don’t want to “wait and see” us hit the bottom again before fixing it.

That is unfortunately our best hope at this point. I was in favor of firing Miles in 2015. I would not have been had I known Ed Orgeron would have be the successor.

I believe that most of the posters on here bitching about O are of two categories:
1. Too young to remember the bad LSU days (I am included here)
2. Spoiled and think they deserve championships because this is LSU
Clearly you are too young.
My first year in college was 1980 @ LSU. That year we got a coach who was a former assistant and was hired because our original hire to replace our longtime coach who “retired” was tragically killed in a plane crash. Stovall was a former player and former LSU assistant coach who had no real interests from other places and considered LSU his dream job. He had an up and down tenure that ended in his firing.
Subsequent to that a great hire was made in Bill Arnsparger, one of the best coaches LSU has had. When he left, we hired one of the hot young defensive names at the time, who happened to be on the LSU staff as the DC. This was on the recommendation of the Departing head coach over candidates with some head coaching experience. Initially, it looked like a good hire, with an initial season of 10-1-1, 5-1-1 in the SEC with a #5 ranking followed by 8-4 but 6-1 in the SEC and a 19-18 victory over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Finished #19 in one poll. Fell off the cliff after that. Led to hiring Curly Hallman
I think a great many fans see the current situation as having elements of both Stovall and Archer. I hope O proves me wrong but I am concerned. Archer couldn’t recruit, O can but recruiting as a head coach is different than as a position coach.
I am not spoiled, nor do I think we deserve a championship. I think fans have a right to expect better results from program many think is an elite destination. We have a right to expect to be competitive in terms of getting a playoff spot. We had a coach who proved capable of that and fired him. Should we not hold his replacement to the same standard.
Hopefully he will quiet my misgivings, though I am not optimistic. And I am generally optimistic.

If LSU isn't committed to competing for championships, then why did we decide to pony up $12M buyout to fire Les Miles, who was an absolute class act and great representative for the school, but just wasn't living up to championship expectations on the field.

1: I'll be 48 in June. While I look quite young, I've been following LSU football religiously since Dalton Hilliard's first game. Define that how you will...
2: False. We don't deserve anything but an administration that is striving to keep LSU in the position it has earned for itself over the past decade and a half. Programs rise and fall, and LSU is STILL in a position to remain in that lofty Top 10 type program status...but, we seem hellbent on attempting to dismantle what we have. It's like someone is working form the outside to destroy our program, but in reality we're doing it to ourselves.
There's nothing spoiled about expecting that LSU's athletic director would hire a coach WITHOUT a losing career head coaching record to take over for a coach who had won a national title who himself had taken over for a coach who had won a national title. There is not amount of spin or accusation that will make this hire not abysmal or convince anyone who sees it for what it is change their opinion on the matter.

Most people I talk to on a day-to-day basis don’t have an opinion, either way, on Ed himself. They just want to see winning football. For most, it seems 4 wins is disappointing. Anything better than that is acceptable.
