Where has this even been mentioned?

USA Today article stated the goal was to suspend Kiffin for a number of games and he proved lack of control by saying “imagine if we had pro players”. That’s about as weak a reason as I’ve ever heard.

Lane was clearly making a sarcastic joke and I don’t think he even thought the mic was still on

Does Sankey thinks he lives under a rock? Of course he hears the rumors

Wait. Wait. Is the OP saying a governor should have no say in how a state run university goes about its business?

Sankey is basically trying to use the hot mic in his case as a quote

But in all honesty it’s because he’s a very soft beta human being who is really offended because he thought Lane had too much freedom to run LSU and how dare Lane try to rule his players eligible

It’s all Sankey and media puppets like finebaum just being his echo chamber enough that enough people buy the Lane hate
Lane is getting Trump like media hate (or that’s what they want the narrative to be)
They fear Lane at LSU.

Here's the problem with the "lack of institutional control" argument: They act like it's somehow separate from the situation with the "pro" players. It's not. Because if you're making the claim of lack of institutional control, then on what basis? They didn't have a problem until all of this. So, obviously, the recent events have spurred these claims against us. If that is the case, it brings us right back to the same question we've been asking about rostering "pro" players: If LSU supposedly lacks institutional control because of this, why is the same not said about these other schools, when they have done the same things?

Guess what? LSU is a state school. That means the governor IS in control to a large degree. Ideally, he lets the school handle itself and doesn't have to get involved, but the fact is that he has the legal right to be involved, whether anyone likes that fact or not. So the question isn't about who's in control, but rather what has anyone at LSU actually done wrong?

To date, nothing has been demonstrated that LSU has done wrong. The courts made rulings, LSU followed the rulings, the SEC whined, LSU backed off... What am I missing? Where is the abhorrent act of defiance that the SEC would have us believe has taken place? It's not there. This is beyond bizarre. So many people thought the SEC should split from the NCAA and self-govern. Well how does that look now? They look worse than the NCAA.

Here's what I don't understand about suspending Kiffin. College football is a product the SEC wants to sell. Everyone is crazy hyped up for Ole Miss to host us. That loses a lot of interest if Kiffin isn't there. I don't get it.

That is the definition of institutional control. That ideas is being thrown in because it's an old NCAA buzz word. Its the dumbest. Sankey is just mad because thry are not wanting to let him be the little dictator. If people do not thr JBE was in control of LSU they are crazy.

May be an unpopular opinion but LSU needs to be on the phone with a consulting firm like Huron or Deloitte.

Tell the SEC & it’s members “We’re going to demonstrate institutional control by bringing in independent experts to restructure athletics governance and compliance.”

No embarrassing is a conference commissioner having to admit he had failed to even bother to read the new NCAA eligibility rules that he claimed LSU was violating.

Thats about as idiotic as a professional can look IMO.

You're getting downvoted but I think what you say is an element in the situation.

It's similar to the 80s SMU case where the Texas governor as well as SMU's BOS were involved and participated in what occurred. While I think it's hard to draw a parallel between the SMU and LSU cases, since SMU clearly violated defined rules and LSU has not violated any such rules, the similarity is the governor, LSU President, BOS were at least tacitly approving of pursuing these athletes.

The SEC and Sankey are obviously overreaching. Plus SMU was a repeat offender which contributed to their death penalty. Why is the SEC going straight for the kill shot, particularly in light of the other inconsistencies regarding eligibility.

LSU is a lot more to the SEC than Sankey. LSU isn't going anywhere. I predict that Sankey will be gone within the next 12 months. They were all playing games, the typical democrat plan, to try and spread fear. Afterall, Sankey and those Presidents ARE liberals, and that is always their MO. Now, Sankey has been made such a fool of, he will try some form of punishment. I hope that LSU does not take any of his BS. LSU, believe it or not, is in a position of power if they try some BS on LSU. LSU would certainly be in a great position for a massive lawsuit...While Sankey is like an emotional woman, you can bet SEC Counsel knows that.

I wouldn’t underestimate how much a bunch of heads of academia likely hate Landry, our AG, senators, etc.

Hopefully, with the players now hosed, Judge Jorden reconsiders a Contempt of Court ruling, and Tony Clayton & Co pursue damages from the SEC/NCAA for his clients.
