16That’s the thing about baseball. Talented teams can play bad. Hard hit balls find gloves. Good pitches get hit. Umpires make bad calls. You have to play each day as a new day. The best hitters succeed 30-40 percent of the time.
Look for bad baseball when they’re walks, runners LOB, K’s, Errors.

It seems that many had formed their opinions without ever seeing the team play, and waited until the first loss to come spout the same tired stuff “we can’t hit”, “Paul=Les”, “all our players are small”.
I’m not here to defend Mainieri, but it’s too soon to write this team off. I’m encouraged by their approach at the plate so far.

Yes, people DO get it. The team was not hitting .333, they weren't even hitting hard outs, and this was a theme for 19 games last year. But the biggest complaints had nothing to do with the players. Many of us were criticizing Mainieri's comical decisions, and people made excuses for him. Finally we get some hits in this game, which was great, but now we're supposed to act like Mainieri didn't make comical decisions prior to this game.
Posts like yours aim to stick it to people for supposedly being over reactionary, but you don't even have a clue what people are reacting to. You just assume you know, and YOU over react to one GOOD game to tell everyone they are wrong.
Everyone knows the talent on this team. Why do you think we get so frustrated when players are misused, underused , or underdeveloped? How often do we hear about Mainieri having "a hunch" about a player, and then that player goes out and does nothing?

I will agree that LSU is making dumb decisions about these coaches. If we hire 1/10th of the experts in these forums, we could get by paying them pennies compared to all these high paid guys with experience and qualifications and winning records and National Championships. Whats the average salary for posters in here, $75K. Probably could double that and pull these horses in to run the show and we'd never lose a game, have all 6* recruits, and triple our profits. LSU would just start sending checks to the fans.

Rant logic: all good things LSU does is because the other team allowed them to do it and we never under any circumstances give credit to the coach. Coaches only do bad things. It’s science.
