re: I know it's been stated many times, but intentionally walking Crews to load the bases...

Was the right play. You can’t pitch to crews there with how White swung earlier in the game
As usual, Lester Earl is correct.

I think it was a dumb move. You set yourself up for a passed ball or in this case hit by pitch to score a run. Crews is batting 500 but I would go at him. There was still a force at any bag.

You don't even have to go at him. Just compete. Crews doesn't know if you're going at him or not, unless you just tuck your tail and send him to 1st for free.

Why don’t we walk Crews to get to college baseballs RBI leader lol.

That’s the risk you take trying to pitch to the lesser player

White was hitting .370 or so and RBI leader.
Maybe it ends up like it did, but I don’t know. Walking the bases loaded to move runner to 3rd. It didn’t work out for UK either way, but that’s a rabbit favorite play to happen.

Ya let em beat you...I'd be pissed if we did that same thing...Im glad white is behind him or we would have seen way more of this.

I honestly feel like UK played about as smart as they possibly could in this series to walk out of Baton Rouge with a series win. They could have burned up their pitching game 1 and probably gotten swept. I don’t mind the intentional walk to get to tanks with the bases loaded. Would have looked like a genius if tanks took it it to the warning track for the 3rd out. Much respect and glad for the win. Hopefully we can pull out a few sweeps the rest of Sec play and maybe get some pitching healthy.

Getting Dugas back will be amazing.
Dugas, Tre, Crews, White, JT, Jones ... That's some bats there.

I said it the other day and people downvoted me. They need to get use to seeing it. Come Tournament time, regional and super regional teams will do a lot of intentional walking of Crews despite the fact that White is behind him. You would think if White leads the country in RBI's that the decision to walk would be harder, but it won't be. A lot of coaches has the mentality of not letting the other teams best player beat you.

was a stupid decision, even if it worked. Mingione is an idiot. He put his pitcher in a position with 0 room for error.
One could argue that pitching to Crews also has 0 room for error.

Nobody else in America will intentionally walk the winning run to 3rd base. The hitter and who's after are nearly irrelevant. In this case, the who's after is actually relevant.

No. You and I might not walk the winning run to 3rd. However, Kentucky is not and will not be the only team to walk Crews in the wrong situation. Coaches have a habit of overthinking things at times, especially during regionals.

Knowing what we know about Crews, it's hard to blame him. White was 0-4 and didn't hit the ball out of the infield today. The Kentucky pitcher is the one that F'd that one up. Not the coach.

If I'm UK in that situation, giving up a run is not a bad bargain. Could've been way worse.

With that said, I'm glad his players don't take on his persona. They seem like really good kids. I bet they hate him.
Lol. There is a reason why Jones yelled “f u pussy, f u!” to the pitcher after he hit his homerun. KY players were talking trash all game long.
