I know it's been stated many times, but intentionally walking Crews to load the bases (runners on 1/2) ... in a tie game in the bottom of the 8th... to face Tommy White and possibly Jordan Thompson next.

UK got what they deserved.

I respect the decision, and at the same time, im happy they made it.

I wouldnt want to face the guy probably going 1.1 with the game on the line either if i can help it

It’s crazy to have the type of protection Crews has and yet teams still want to walk him to get to Tanks

That’s what everyone thinks of Crews. He makes you make decisions against the book.

White was a bit “chippy” chirping at that kid.
I bet he was pissing himself as White looks like a 35 y/o football player.

It was a stupid decision, even if it worked. Mingione is an idiot. He put his pitcher in a position with 0 room for error.

"Don't let their best hitter beat us"
That was his decision. I hate Mingione but it was a decent move considering. But seriously, he sucks!

That works in theory and works against a lot of teams but we have one of the nastier 1-2 punches seen

The UK dugout was chippy like a girls softball team the entire series.

UK coach was brilliant all weekend, putting pressure on our pitching staff, and was impressed how effective he was using what talent they had playing small-ball; but that one move bit him in the arse..But he didn’t think his pitcher would plunk White, which probably still was a genius move, but just wasn’t executed. Have to give credit to him, though, his pitching strategy to basically to concede game one, almost won him the series…. Much respect to him IMO, putting his team in a position to knock out the #1 team on the road…

Idk I kinda don’t. As good as Crews is, it isn’t like he’s got a nobody behind him. Sure, load the bases for the force out. But you’re putting the leading run 90 feet away against a really polished hitter. One frick up regardless of what the batter does and you’re down.

I think UK tried too hard to big brain it and it backfired. Just like the whole series.

I think their thought process was we need a double play or strikeout. White is more likely to give you one of those than Crews. Tough spot to be in

I mean Crews is still hitting over .500

I don't hate the decision to not let him beat you but it's tough when the next guy leads the country in RBIs

Was the right play. You can’t pitch to crews there with how White swung earlier in the game

It’s insane. Tommy White leads the nation in RBIs.

J think his BA with runners in scoring position is better than his average with bases open.

He has 2 Grand Slams thisnyear

I would have at least "pitched around" Crews and not give him anything good to hit. Sometimes good players are "itching" to get a home run will chase bad pitches. I wonder if they would have intentionally walked him if the bases were loaded.

Crews is a generational talent. But, you still don't do that unless you're an absolute imbecile that's scared and hoping to puff your chest out for a flash in the pan decision.

And, all the "he really made some good decisions" people can also take a lap. He's a Bush league ****. If you just keep pushing buttons, eventually something will pay off. They won a game because we beat ourselves. He didn't do anything worthy.

With that said, I'm glad his players don't take on his persona. They seem like really good kids. I bet they hate him.
