Is this your criterion for what makes a successful coach. It narrows the pool quite a bit. Why on earth would we have hired O of this is our bar?

Yes, he won a NC but it required the benefit of outrageously good fortune on the final week.
No, it didn’t.
LSU needed ONE upset to occur to get back to #2.
Yes Pitt was a big underdog but the Backyard Brawl is a huge rivalry game and Pat White was knocked out of the game in the first half.
And I wouldn’t call having to play and win the SEC Championship Game with your backup quarterback outrageous good fortune.

I don't miss him because with Les it seemed like it was never going to end. Most successful coach in LSU history but it was clear that his stubborness was going to slowly kill the program, but how on earth are they going to move on.
Orgeron was a horrible choice, but I feel he's a middling season and a tantrum away from being shown the door.

Good riddance Les Miles. Enjoy retirement.

Was it the constant late game clock meltdowns?
I’m done bagging on Les. He was good for the program and did a lot of good, but it was time to part ways. Let’s move on.

I don’t.
Just because Eaux is a downgrade doesn’t make me miss Dumb Les one bit.

I can't understand how anyone could come to a different conclusion than this.

I don’t think anyone has, other than the hard core O supporters that feel the need to denigrate his tenure out of insecurity.

6-6 this year..... yes I miss Les.....

So down that it was an all SEC championship, where Auburn who LSU and coach O beat, beats the champs. STFU dumbass. It's no down than it was when Les took over yet he let the other SEC teams bend him over. When Les took over LSU was the top football program in the SEC. The same can't be said for coach O. He has to revive the program and you morons keep harping on the fact that he lost a few games with a roster that was weak. Jimbo did worse with a much deeper roster.
Can't wait to see what he does at A&M with the schedule he now has to face. He's another one that had the ACC all to himself at one point and couldn't elevate that program to sustain success. To me someone recent future has much more merit than someone's distant past. Things and people change. Os trejectory isn't going down, it's going up. You couldn't say the same for Les Miles or Jimbo.

What you people cant fricking comprehend is, Miles had no excuse for putting out an inept offense year after year when he had NFL talent playing against college kids.
For all of you who are ignorant of the contents of the LSU record book, these are just a few of his offensive records from the 2017 LSU Media Guide.
If Miles offenses were "inept", then I'm not sure how to categorize those that fall below his.
#1,2,3 in PPG
#1,2,4,5 Scoring
#1,2,3,4 Offensive TDs
One thing that stands out is Orgeron's attempt at an LSU offense scored less ppg than 10 of Miles 11 LSU offenses
also, that awful Miles LSU coaching resulted the:
#1 Win%
#1 NC trophies (tie)
#1 NC appearances
#1 SEC titles (tie)
#1 SECW titles (tie)

Whether the trajectory is up or down will be determined on the field. Granted, the schedule looks tough, but it's all about wins and losses. If you give a coach a break bc the schedule is difficult, then that coach should not be in the SEC.

Miles knows what it takes to win, and I think he just doesn't have the desire to go through that anymore. He was coasting at LSU at the end, getting ready to ride off into the sunset. I'm almost 100% certain he'd be retiring last year or this, if he had stayed.
That's why he doesn't have another job, he never planned on taking one and has no need to.

I think it would be easier to let go if they made a home run hire and not settle.

Les only knew how to pound it. Impose your will, attack their strength, etc. Neanderthal football. That's not " knowing" the running game.
correct. he did not use whole field or make other teams adjust. he did not counter attack. very predictable. look all that was fine for 8 plus wins a year. as crowton testified his style was keep it close and pull it out in the 4th!

quote:True... against the weaker teams on our schedule. It takes almost zero thought to know you can ram the ball down the throats of physically inferior teams. Hell, I can coach the team and win those games.
Les miles teams ran for a LOT of yards and a LOT of TDs....true or false?
But for those opponents that match up physically on the LOS, that approach doesn't work, and you have to, you know, actually coach and gameplan.
But Les didn't have a Plan B.

Or let's look at the depleted roster he left
So untrue. A loaded roster was left, top 5 in the country and a returning starting 5th yr Sr QB was handed to O. What a break and a unbelievable opportunity was left for O. Other than the guy at Oklahoma, what new coach inherited a better program than O in recent memory?
