6. He will not accept the idea that the coming season is hopeless. He's determined to make this team competitive for next year. The question is how. It seems like a lot of this is up in the air but they could well be beating the bushes all summer trying to find kids who can contribute.

7. The recruiting class he takes this November will be nationally ranked, and it will elevate the program significantly. The recruiting class for next November will be elite.

8. I'm not sure about this, but the understanding I have is that Heath Schroyer, who was the head coach at Wyoming and Tennessee-Martin and was the lead assistant on Mark Gottfried's staff at NC State last year, is one assistant he's bringing in and Shyrone Chatman, who's a Baton Rouge guy who played and coached for Calipari at Memphis and was the lead assistant at UMass this past year, is another. Supposedly LSU is giving Wade a budget to bring in five "shadow staff" guys with "director of operations" and "player personnel" type titles, and he's going to bring in some notable people in those jobs. That will put LSU on a similar plane with Kentucky in terms of the amount of coaches and support staff.

10. Look for a completely different experience in the PMAC under this guy. He's hands-on with everything. The stupid kiss-cam is going to be gone, the student section is going to become a thing again, they will aggressively market basketball on a grass roots basis, this guy will be out hustling to make LSU hoops matter in the community. People have been talking about doing this ever since Dale Brown left; this is the first one who actually has a plan to do it and he's apparently bringing a guy from VCU who is a guru where this is concerned.

holy shite I'm excited

How is that possible? Not doubting you, just curious how a person who has been at such a high level doesn't know fundamentals taught in 6th grade

Getting off a screen or the principles of motion offense aren't fundementals taught in 6th grade.

That is definitely more advanced stuff.

A guy like Blakeney relied solely on his superior ability and never learned that stuff. Obviously, a player like him would NEED that stuff desperately to make it in the NBA.

I don't know. I sat in Dale Brown's office and JB's office in the PMAC. They were big--what you'd expect for a basketball coach--women's coach also had office in PMAC. I call bullshite on that one.

So it's most likely some bits of truth mixed in with some BS.

Sounds about right.

Yes, but they were moved to the athletic admin building when it was built.

What's wrong with the Kiss-cam? Were we not showing two players on the opposing bench in the last shot?

A positive LSU basketball thread in April that'll probably have close to 100 posts. So nice to finally see excitement about LSU basketball again.

I've been to a VCU vs Richmond game and it is better than anything LSU has shown since Dale Brown. The Coliseum was rocking. This was pre-wade but still a different atmosphere than what LSU has had to offer.

Also ridiculous is the weight room, which they share with the Olympic sports. How are the basketball players going to get serious about lifting weights when they'd rather hit on the gymnasts or the volleyball players in there? They're going to need a facilities upgrade to handle all of that.
It makes no sense to have a basketball only weight room, especially when it comes to free weights. Not enough players around. I don't know if it is the same nowadays, but there was always some cross coaching with the track and field coaches who tend to know the weight room and can work with different athletes on the track.

And none of the coaches (always at least one in there) would put up with the nonsense you are talking about.

The guy that scammed people out of money with his failed "Purple and Gold" Magazine? Makes perfect sense.

I hope the student section becoming a thing again means that they move it from behind the damn goal and put it back on the camera side where it should be. It was awesome when I was at LSU

I don't need inside info to know LSU Basketball is in good hands now.

Wade will get this program back on track with swiftness.

Why did they move the media, and then leave the old media row empty with all the seats still there?

It accomplished nothing. They should move the stands close to the court and get rid of that.
