Nobody remind him the last time we gave an OL an honorary number patch...

Personally I think it is dumb.

BUT if it means something to the players that’s all that matters

Totally agree. It's turned out to be a bunch of childish nonsense. A team putting so much emphasis on stupid shite isn't concentrating hard enough on the things that really matter. It's a distraction.

I don't hate it, it just seems irrelevant now because half of the players have been busts that wear it. It seems very forced and "try hard" now whereas is used to feel organic.

It's odd because it seems like "7" has become more of a curse than anything lately.

Now we're giving it offensive linemen which has made it a sham. That doesn't mean that Campbell isn't a great player, it just seems forced now.

But it's 2023 and nothing really seems pure anymore and it shouldnt require this much energy, I don't even know why I typed this comment.

Well 7 was a cool idea when it was the previous number 7 that decided who he was passing the number to. Now that it’s a coaches or team vote is kinda dumb.

I do like the 18 tradition though and what it represents. It’s even become a big deal on that players draft profile after they enter the draft when it’s known that they earned the coveted #18 jersey at LSU.

I'm sure Will Campbell is really second guessing his life decisions due to your dislike of what should be important to them.

They should have kept it all in house as the fans speculate as to whether it’s even a “tradition.” It’s become kind of gay now that it is out in the open.

At this time, Will Campbell is the perfect pick to have the number.

I wish your mom would have decided to blow those 5 guys instead of a gangbang and we wouldn’t have to read your stupid arse opinions

There I said it

Yep I said it. Giles killed the 7 and O should’ve let it die. TWO special numbers per team? Dumb. And now that an OL has the 7, it has become officially stupid. This is a fake tradition that should die a quick death.

Maybe we all hate you, should we put an end to you you?

I don't care for it, either. It's a team sport. No one player is bigger than the team.

I hate this cliche. There is always one or two people most important to any team, business, family etc. Everyone involved knows who they are so it's dumb to pretend otherwise. What's important is those key people not having disruptive egos and being good leaders. There's nothing wrong with recognizing and letting them know there is now an expectation for them to lead.

Yea I wouldn’t really agree with that statement. unfortunately a couple guys didn’t play the entire season while having the number, but a bust is a stretch.

Grant Delpit had one of the best seasons for a LSU safety

Ja’Marr Chase opted out for the draft

Jacoby Stevens also had an incredible season.

Stingley got hurt 3 games in and opted to get healthy for the draft.

Boutte was in a new system with a run heavy QB, seemed to take him out his game and he pouted.

When was being from Louisiana part of the tradition on wearing #7?

Didn’t it start by trying to follow in the footsteps of Patrick Peterson or honor him in some way?

"to build upon the tradition of No. 7 and award it to the best player from the state of Louisiana."
