I'm out.
If a Saban contract lands Saban, it's well done. If a Saban contract lands Jimbo, not so much. OTOH, aTm is very well healed. So maybe for them it's a different scenario.

People are so elated that JA is gone they can’t and won’t see that ANYONE can get decent coaching with a checkbook filled with frick you money...problem is LSU ain’t got FU money.

1. LSU has a money problem because of Joe Alleva.

2. Woodward made a great hire at Washington without said FU money.

Aggies have way more money. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Just because you have more money doesn't mean you should be free to make stupid contracts and mismanage everything.

You think that sets a good precedent?

The guy hasn’t even sat down at his desk yet and you’re already looking for reasons to be “out”?

The Aggie figureheads and donors told Woodward they wanted Jimbo go get him. Woodward said “it’s gonna cost some money.”
Aggies said “GO GET HIM.”
Woodward said “This is what it’s gonna take *insert deal*”
Aggies said “Yeah we can do that. Make it happen.”
Woodward made happen.

He was just doing the job the big dogs asked him to do and did what it took to make CJF sign on the dotted line. That would be a pretty refreshing change.

A National Championship coach? Yeah, I want that.

Chiznic is available... should be have offered 75 million guaranteed to him?

Furthermore, since his all world QB, JF never sniffed close again and left his program in the shitter.

Ps....glad Alleva is toast.

Exactly... And there are some AD's out there that have completely put nothing programs on the map.

I'm not saying I'm against the hire, but as you say, it didn't take skill to put together that contract. But I see the dummies on this board are out in full force.

You are the problem. Your thought process would lead to decades of a half empty Tiger Stadium. Educate yourself about the inner workings of big time college football contracting before posting from now on.

Trust me, I'm 17 moves ahead of you.

So, we just fired the AD everyone wanted out and you are already looking for a reason to bitch about the new AD?

No, I'm evaluating... and discussing. Again, A&M has all the money in the world. Just how hard is it to be great with those funds? Whereas, AD's with no money turning out winners. To dismiss them is foolish.

Furthermore, to not interview more than one man for the job is even more foolish.

How'd they overpay?

I really don’t get this mentality either. But it’s the years that is “above the norm” and the fact that it’s 100% guaranteed. It’s risky I guess if he flames out but if they signed him to the type of deal LSU offered Herman and he did well, they’d just be paying him the same amount basically anyway

I get it... I do.

ON the other side, we have given ridiculous extensions to coaches that we shouldn't have.. and someone is approving them higher up. See Miles, Fargus, etc.

Alleva has his share of the responsibility but the firing needs go further up the chain as well.

The Peterson hire at Washington was a solid acquisition… They had to break the bank to get him though… As his contract was the highest of any PAC coach in history. Maybe Woodward should be an agent ...lol.....Peterson definitely improved the program but his contract is definitely the top of the mark with that university.
