Lest we forget that Myles resorted to a fake spike heave in a spring game, then did a throat slash gesture to the sideline like he had just put the dagger in Bama

Yeah and if the other quarterback had done that it would be indicative of his Heisman potential.

I suspect that call came from the sidelines. Myles was on the phone with the OC, just prior to that play.

They were just having fun, entertaining the fanatics.

Myles’ lack of touch is much more problematic then Max’s lack of arm strength

Brennan has had a better completion percentage at every situation, High School and and college.

TD writers must have that feeling too. Myles gets no love. Kinda feel sorry for the kid.

The other blue bloods have shown us over and over that you better have the talent the day you step foot on campus.

If high school was an indication of anything Myles wouldn’t be fighting for a job with a young player like Johnson

Even so Johnson had a great SR year at Oconee. His teams weren’t good previously

high school stats and accomplishments mean zero once you get to college, in every sport.

Max is likely the first game starter. Lot of people have revisionist history when it comes to Myles Brennan in the 3 games he played last season. I remember the comments on here during the games. Myles made some good throws and made some incredibly poor ones. He had problems moving the chains and getting first downs. He looked rattled in every game he played at different times. He is a statue behind the LOS.

My gut tells me that Brennan starts the season as the starter but at some point falters enough that Max takes over permanently.

Myles was on pace for the highest offensive output in LSU history before he got hurt..
who did they play? Just curious.

and that really killed Brady, Manning, Marino, Roethlisberger and Brees as quarterbacks.
you think Brennan has the accuracy, pocket presence, ability to read defenses, command of the offense, and leadership of those guys (all current or future Hall of Famers)?

Max will win the games needed for LSU to have a good season. Its shocking to me that people still think Myles is the better option. Arm strength and stats fool many.

I like Brennan and he deserves to play, but life isnt fair.

A QB has to be able to win the game. Some have "it" and fill up the Win column. Others fill up the "what if" column.

I feel Coach O Will start Myles to keep him on the team and hopefully not transfer, but the first major screwup and Max will be out on the field, to show what he can do!!

Myles Brennan is starting. That’s just the way things work. He’s built up far too many loyalty points. Johnson may get the start in later games, but this business about Johnson starting the opener is pure poppycock.

I hope whoever the QB is leads LSU to the next best season ever but let’s stop acting like Myles being on the roster for 5 years automatically makes him the starter.

It’s not that he’s been on the team for 5 years. I think some posters are stupid enough to still look at his HS numbers and automatically think that makes him a stud.

WTF... are you serious or delusional?
Johnson could not and did not beat out TJ Finley for 5 freaking games after Brennan’s injury. If Johnson is so damn good why is that? If Finley does not throw 5 INTs in one game you would have never heard of Max Johnson. Hell if Brennan doesn’t get hurt you would have never heard of Finley or Johnson. Furthermore, if the idiot from FL doesn’t throw the shoe, WE LOOSE the damn game. By the same token if Pelini could even spell DEFENSE Brennan’s 40 points per game average wins us every game he started. Brennan is the quintessential pro QB and with the weapons he will have around him this year just let’s sit back and enjoy the show. Brennan is and will be the starting QB. Take it to the bank.

Auburn will defeat LSU in 2021 with Finley behind center. You heard it here first…. Deal with it….

Maybe, anything can happen. Hell we could have another pandemic by then but I seriously doubt either will happen.

Let’s be honest, we all know why Finley started...

Speculation… But Finley simply had freshman hiccups. His sophomore year would have been huge. Big difference in experience and mindset from year 1 to year 2.

Maybe in 1995

And let’s not pretend like coaches decisions are infallible or that we know all the circumstances that went into having TJ get the look first. Your own post demonstrates that TJ lost the job to the guy that was backing him up

We were in positions to win those final 2 games because 1) we ran the ball significantly better 2) had no untimely sacks 3) possessed the ball longer than the other team. I am not going to pretend like I do not think any of that was because of Max. We did none of those 3 things well under Brennan. These were done with a significantly more depleted roster as well for Max as well

Maybe Brennan will win the job, maybe not. But people need to stop looking at the surface level stats to determine which qb is better for the team

That’s why I never mentioned stats.
Because I don’t have to.
I just referenced facts.
