re: I don't know if it's due to older age, but I woke up completely apathetic about the loss

08-09
The last Miles years and first O years
And bogus COVID season
Those seemed like aberrations until we started seeing non-SEC-caliber defenses recently and realizing the at without Jayden Daniels this whole team was barely a bowl team. Now the successes since 2007 seem to be the exception (I know that isn’t supported by stats.)
Just flashes in the pan of greatness only to return to mediocrity.
NIL and transfer portal and poor LSU leadership at the top have me placing football in the same “hope for the best” category as LSU basketball team.

I remember a time when I’d still be pissed off on the Tuesday following a LSU loss on Saturday. Ridiculous.
I just shrugged my shoulders last night. The guys who wear the laundry I like to follow and cheer for lost. Oh well.

Why care when the people you are freaking out about could give one iota about anything else but themselves and a $.
They could give a freak about the fans. It is all about me and a $. Period.
Make better use of your time and keep your blood pressure down. These people really mean nothing to our lives.

That's a problem everywhere.
Other teams aren't this bad.

I think it is that to some degree, but also the NIL effect. The players don't seem to care anymore, since they getting paid, and I'm not too damn sure that BK really cares? What's the motivation. If he is fired, he walks away even more rich. College football is on decline.

Agreed. While LSU earns millions for playing major opponents in “neutral” sites to open Week 1, most other SEC schools start their seasons with smaller, less challenging opponents in order to get their team up and running on all cylinders before taking on a conference opponent. Perhaps Woody should rethink his strategy.

I’m pulling for a total meltdown to force something be done. But I also care less and less. I’ve arranged my day around LSU games in 25 years. Yesterday went down to UL game, while I did watch a few plays on tailgate TVs I just didn’t care. Family had fun
I think a lot had to do w the portal, NIL, conference realignment, watered down playoffs.

Exactly. Too many posting live at home, work part-time-if at all, own nothing of value, have never taken a college class, have someone else paying their bills, have no real responsibility, and worry at 4 a.m. during summer months about the band playing "Neck." It's nice to win, but if your team doesn't, life continues.

It is a combination of all of the above College football is a mini NFL now if the team wins fans will be engaged if not then apathy until team wins again. The players don’t have connection to the schools like they used to and so the fans don’t have the connections to the players like they used to . Some of these kids will play for 3 teams in a 4-5 yr career

Agree with your post. Unfortunately LSU needs to have a burn it down and experience several years of below average seasons so that fan passion and interests may reignite once again. I watched Florida fans bring it yesterday even though they are struggling record wise because they are hungry for a winning program. Maybe with NIL that is a lost cause so apathy is here after a golden age for the past 20+ years for LSU football. I find that some loses I just brush it off and others like last night haunt me as a fan. The demoralizing reality that due to Kelly's huge buyout we may be stuck with this situation for awhile when it has become obvious to the fans that this doesn't appear to be working out doesn't help. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

Yep, it's stress inducing to watch the games. Best weekend this fall has been the bye week.
Losses don’t just mean you are out of contention for post season. It means you are out of contention for recruits, current players, potential portal additions, NIL funding, etc. It’s levered up the “meaning” of every game and it’s exhausting.
I feel like I care more about the result than at least 25% of the staff and players. I’m tired of feeling embarrassed by the product that’s on the field even though I have no impact on that outcome. I realize that’s probably not true, but watching the body language I can see leaves a lot of us feeling that way.

I did too. The passion is gone. I would rather watch Tulane or the Chiefs.
This coach seems to get worse as the calendar pages turn over.

I couldn't care less if LSU loses the next two at this point.
I hope I never feel this way. I don't really understand it. I won't disparage you for it, I guess it is just now how I run. Mabe I'm just used to disappointment

I'm not really sure how true that was or wasn't even 30 years ago but it is certainly less so now. There are still guys who do. Guys like Josh Williams who forego lesser offers to walk on at LSU. Of course, he still gets crapped on by fans here.

I did not read your post. But I did read the subject line. I agree and I think it's maturity. The stress is during the game. 15 minutes maybe 30 minutes after a loss. I'm good. It didn't use to be that way.

Getting older puts things in perspective. Life goes on despite the losses and there are more important things in life than the outcome of a football game.
That said, winning sure does feel good and I’d like more of it.

I haven’t seen the last halves of the last 3 games. This team has no fight it seems and it will just piss me off cause I know they aren’t coming back.

I was frustrated yesterday evening, but today I feel kinda numb. Like I did with the Saints while Dennis the Menace was still coach.

Its a lack of hope.
You've seen this happen to other programs. There's just nothing we can do about this situation. Nothings going to happen. We are stuck.
Besides that, the transfer portal and NIL kind of has ruined the game. It's cool to have a team that wins, but it's no longer going to be just a bunch of local guys that want to represent our state. Look at the next recruiting class. It's more national than it's ever been.

I’m just pissed that I changed my Pickem to LSU 30 min before the deadline.
Won’t make that mistake again.
