He won his game against a higher ranked opponent.
He also inherited a half decent team with a top 10 QB. Florida was only arse the last few years because Dan Mullen was an awful coach, not because they didnt have talent.

:lol. Kelly is 100% responsible for this game. He hired every single coach and recruited or rerecruited every single one of these players. He was responsible for the training, game plans, and personnel.
Get outta here
Get outta here

Napier could have beat FSU with his ULL roster.

Lsu got physically and mentally whooped. That is on Kelly. The game plan was atrocious. The defense played terrible zone defense and every time the D got a chance at a tackle for loss they whiffed or over pursued. Special teams was terrible. FSU out coached him in every facet.
That's all on the coaches.
That's all on the coaches.

They hated Jay Johnson too so this isn’t something new..they expect Johnson & Kelly to waltz in here their 1st year, go undefeated and win a NC every fricking year after.... LoL

Because he had 9 f’n months and for 3 quarters this team looked like absolute dog shite against a weak Florida State team.

There are 6 teams in the country with more 4/5 stars on their teams than LSU.
That graphic doesn't show the numbers currently on the team. We've lost a LOT of the 4 and 5 star guys from the last 4 classes.
I'm sure, on paper, we're more talented than FSU, but that graphic is misleading.

I do not understand how you can blame Brian Kelly
Are you serious? He's the f*cking head coach and getting paid 9+ mil. Yes, he shoulders the blame. We were unprepared, undisciplined, and lacked enthusiasm. He didn't make any personnel adjustments on the O-line. Wire got abused all night and he kept sending him out there. He didn't replace Nabers after the first muffed punt.

Because everything is ultimately the coaches fault.

Couple of things on both sides of the argument:
1) four bad special teams plays
2) several plays where QB threw and the receivers weren’t there. It mostly looked to be corrected by the end of the game, but they looked confused for a half.
3) you lose a player by ejection for a targeting call
A muffed or a blocked kick will happen. Four in a game makes you wonder what’s happening at practice. The same with a bad pass/wrong route. And targeting happens. But when they snowball, you wonder what practice looks like and how much of that can be preventable.
In particular on the positive side, we just watched a Tigers team make adjustments at the half, change the gameplan, and march down the field on a 2-minute drill where the guys knew when to run out of bounds, when to clock it, when to fight for a yard, how to run up on the ball after a first down.
So. The first half looked like a poorly-coached team. The second half looked like a team that made a lot of mistakes but belonged on a football field.
The loss is in the column. If special teams has a game half this bad again during Kelly’s career, he should be embarrassed. But now he has some holes that have been revealed. What he does the next few weeks will show what kind of coach he is going to be- engaged and responsive vs checked out and cashing checks.

The team looked like a team who was pkaying their first game together. They will get better as the year goes on. The only justifiable anger is to 1) the admin who allows teams to play a tune up game by not stipulating this in the contract and 2) polian who there is no justification for how terrible the teams were tonight.

He inherited a very bad team.
No matter what Kelly says and no matter what the retards on here say, this roster is not good. It’s got some bright spots but there are several positions that just aren’t going to be very good this year, OL being one of them and when we have injuries, we go and rely on freshmen. That’s just the bottom line. I’m not going to judge Kelly until he’s in Year 3. I’m sure most on here will call for his blood if he’s not getting guys to compete for the title next year but we didn’t have a lot of talent. We’ve got some coming in, but not right now. This isn’t a fricking Urban Meyer Florida team that had plenty of talent left after Zook got canned.
It’ll be a miracle to win 8 games with this roster. Wait until we get Kelly’s guys and he gets 2-3 classes under his belt

This. We might be more talented than FSU but we’re definitely more along the lines of Ole Miss kind of roster than fricking Ohio State, Bama and Georgia. We’ve had a lot of losses of talent over the last 3 classes

Jared verse is a beast and lsu wanted him. Campbell looked good.
Kelly is responsible for how the team looks. He was shell shocked on the sidelines after pumping this team up.

What concerns me is that this team looked as unprepared as any team fielded by Orgeron the last two years. The offensive play calling was putrid for the first 3 quarters. They finally started clicking in the 4th quarter when we went hurry up. Why not do that the whole game? And don’t get me started on how bad the defense looked. That zone was awful. And Special teams…they were very special tonight. Perhaps they will learn from this debacle and improve. That’s all we can hope for at this point.
