You just can’t risk not having Labas start a game in this super regional. Kinda shocked that’s the route they want to take

Hilliard has been better than Labas for a month. And even last weekend in an elimination game they gave the ball to Hilliard. He’s the number 2 pitcher at the moment. CPM is telling you that with his actions.

Ok and if he doesn’t and we lose by one run then I bet you tell yourself hmmmm if Marceaux was pitching we win this game.

Or a burnt out Marceaux goes out there and his breaking pitches aren’t sharp and he’s missing the zone. You’ll be saying “damn I wish we didn’t burn our best pitcher because we were too impatient to let him recover.”

The one thing you can’t do this super regional is waste Marceaux’s start. Let him rest as long as possible and be at his best. Anything less is asking to be burned.

and Coleman,

This definitely depends on the situation when Hilliard comes out. Otherwise I agree

This thread is so confusing. Some people referencing to the saturday game and i think they mean sunday. And your post mentions friday, and obviously we arent playing today. Then, apparently alot of the rant thinks marceaux is guaranteed to be regular marceaux on 4 days rest after throwing 150 pitches. Hint, its very likely he wouldnt be as effective, most likely

Yes we understand this but what he’s saying is if we lose a game we’re stuck with Labas in an elimination game.

We can hit this kid from Tennessee.

So let's win game one and then have Marceaux finish out game 2 for us.

If that's the case, a combo of Hilliard, Coleman, Edward/Fontenot is plenty good enough to do the job.

y Hilliard is pitching Saturday
OP is 100% correct.

Watch the fools in this thread who are supporting this move come back Saturday after the game and a 7-6 loss and complain that we would have won if Marceaux had pitched.

It's the wrong move.

Step on their neck in game 1.

Period.

What if Marceaux pitched in Game 1 and had to leave the game with soreness or a strain in the second inning because he already Threw 147 pitches less than a week before and pushed himself too much too fast? Then what would everyone had said? Cpm is an idiot what’s he thinking making Marceaux throw again?

It could work either way.

We have to win 2 of 3. You don’t have to win Game 1. You HAVE to win Marceaux’s game. Do whatever is needed to help that situation, hence the extra needed day of rest. This season has shown, the series will come down to our hitting and fielding. We have the arms to compete with anyone.

Just now heard this on the Ark game broadcast: Since 99, the winner of game #1 in the super regionals goes on to win the series 80% of the time.

Now give me the percentage of 3 or 4 seeds that lose game 1 of a regional and come back to win the regional

If LSU loses 7-6, I still think giving Marceaux an extra day is the right move

You’d have to look for that one yourself, bc I don’t know! I simply threw out a stat that was mentioned a bit ago in the Ark game. I don’t who should throw in game #1, and I’m not going to pretend as if I do. I’m not the coach! However, at the moment, I do like holding Marceaux for game #2, but that’s just my opinion, which counts for nothing.

I’m not saying that Hilliard should pitch Game 1 or Game 2. But ESPN keeps showing the graphic that 80% of the teams that win Game 1 goes to the CWS.

Of course you are if we lose, but not if we win.

LSU is in this position because of how they played last weekend, not last month.

That’s why Bianco is in, that’s why Coleman is going to get the ball at some point. It’s why you need to guarantee Labas gets a start this weekend.

If Hillard wasn’t on a weird schedule from pitching twice last weekend I would have no issues entertaining this

What's Hilliard's W-L record?

If we lose a close game one then I feel super good about our ace on full rest pitching for the season. What if marceaux pitches in short rest and can’t get out the 4th and we burn a lot of bullpen?
