Yes everything is still in play but how will your outlook change if we lose it?

It depends on how we lose. If we play well, look prepared, well conditioned, it goes down to the wire and we lose a butt clencher, or maybe we look pretty solid, improve as the game progresses but are a little outmatched because we've got some new players figuring things out, that's cause for hope that the team can gel as the season goes on. If we look like we did against USC, or FSU, or A&M and Kelly's doing his usual "this is on me, I need to coach better" crap, or Nussmeir shows up and throws four bad picks, the OL is a sieve, and/or the secondary looks lost, then it's going to be a long season.

Great coaches overcome this. BK has the guys to do it. We're going to find out if he is made from that cloth.

9-3, sec gets ya into playoffs. Bama lost to vandy and ole miss a bad Kentucky. You just can't lose to shite teams. You lose to clemson and 2 8-9 win sec teams, your in the playoff.

This always gets me because rarely have I seen LSU play well and lose and people on this board are ok with it.

It’s a big deal, but it’s not rational to make it a “make or break” game…

Disappointed, yes. Pissed, no. Not going to get pissed about losing to a likely Top 10 team on the road to open season with four new starters on the OL.

Right #3 Oregon vs #4 LSU, but on neutral site - That’s when the pundits of college football started leaning SEC. Going into Clemson with their loaded roster makes this the most difficult game. CBK has the pressure but it wouldn’t be a bit surprising to lose. We just can’t look like we looked in the 2nd Fla St game. The winner of this game barring any unavoidable setbacks has got a track to the CFP. Clemson can handle a loss, LSU on the other hand would be fighting an almost impossible road. With Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, TxAM, and Oklahoma left, not to mention South Carolina.

All odds stacked against LSU.

explain what you mean by "All odds" ! !

can't you find any advantage whatsoever that LSU has?
Nussmeier is considered one of the Heisman finalists this year, so there's that. and the receiver corp is also pretty good.

"All odds" is pretty strong in that regard. but CBK has yet to win an opener at LSU.

Oregon game was bigger because it was the BCS. The playoffs began week 1.

Agreed and nobody is giving LSU a chance in the media despite everyone agreeing this is 2 playoff teams. That's crazy when you think about it. If LSU wins this game watch out.

The bright side is that the game is being played on a Saturday night. All 3 of the last openers we lost were on a Sunday night.

We gon win boys. I can feel it. 2011 Oregon feelz to it

I don't see a path to victory for LSU unless Clemson completely shits the bed. They're more experienced with better players across the board. Klubnik/Nussmeier and safeties/lbs are debatable. Given it's @ Clemson and just how poorly LSU's OL matchups up with Clemson's DL, I wouldn't be shocked if the game is over before halftime. It's a horrendous matchup to be breaking in a new OL/DL/secondary

Loud and wrong. According to the blue chip ratio we have a more talented team so that’s false. Our OL is inexperienced playing together but filled with two high caliber transfers and multiple 5 stars /top 100 overall recruits out of HS so acting like there no talent upfront is foolish. Clemson has a good d line but my god can we first see how they perform with this new dc ? It’s still the same d line got bullied and pushed around vs the run including at home vs Louisville why do folks keep ignoring that ?

Backend has new pieces but those pieces include the no.1 corner out of HS IN 5 Star DJ Pickett whose 6’4 runs a 4.3 and has freakish length, mansoor delane was one of the best portal corners and some of our other young dbs like woodland , stamps , turner and Anding all are talented we are actually at a good spot at cb. Safety is the question but we finally have the depth there. Haulcy and Cooley were big time portal pickups, spears was a former top 60 overall recruit heading into year 2 whose has a strong offseason. We have the players to go into Clemson and win

If we show up and look like we have for the last few openers, unprepared, players out of position, generally clueless, I think it's the beginning of the end for Kelly. This is the biggest game of his tenure at LSU. He has the personnel, he has his coaching staff, he's got a veteran QB. I don't even think we have to win the game to have a chance at the playoffs, but we can't have another table slamming game where we look like shite.

This. Just for once don’t look like we’re surprised that there’s a football game scheduled for that day. The last few years have been completely awful in openers, it’s like no one involved knew when they showed up to the stadium that we had to play a game.

Clemson is returning 4/5 OL.Their DL has 2 potential #1 overall picks at Edge and DT and another potential first rounder at the other DT. They also have a lockdown 1st rounder at corner. They have 2, if not 3 future 1st rounders at WR and their QB also has #1 overall potential. That same passing game shredded Texas, who had the best defense and secondary in CFB last year, in the CFP in Austin and they'll be even better this year. And Moffa was injured during that game, he wasn't even a factor

They were down double digits majority of the damn game. They racked up yards playing catchup. They were down 31-10 at one point where was this “ lethal” pass game earlier in the game ? You mentioning moffah being out holds no weight in our matchup since he’s in the league now. Clemson most likely will be giving a true freshmen back and a converted wr in Adam Randall Marjory of the carries

I'm a Texas fan, I watched that game closely. I expected Texas to shut them down, but all 3 of their WR are ELITE and Klubnik picked the secondary apart.

Arizona State converted a few trick/fluke plays late in the 4th to make it a game, Clemson actually won 1 on 1's with regularity. And that was against a Thorpe award winner/1st rounder in Barron, 2nd in Mukuba, all american in Taaffe and future 1st in Muhammad.

They were the only team capable of attacking the secondary all year, Ohio State included, and their entire offense is back. FYI they got stopped on 4th and goal at the 1 and had another turnover on downs at the Texas 25 late in the 4th. That easily could have been a tie game at 38 going into overtime
