It depends what you mean. I think a lot of people would play Alabama in a home and home like LSU and UT are doing. And a lot of teams are willing to play in the neutral field game.
But Alabama, like everyone, wants home games. So for the last two or 3 non conference games they are choosing from teams that are willing to play at Bama with no return date. Those teams are there for the payday. And, those teams are all cupcakes.

So LSU has all these players out for this week's game against a cream puff and we should have 10 games or so against P5 teams? Got it...

At the very least, I'd like to see the SEC allow schools to schedule SEC teams as non-conference opponents, if they want to do so.
If the bottom-dwellers want to schedule two directional schools, that's their choice. If the successful programs want to schedule a team in the other division instead, they should have the ability to do so.

Schedule could look something like this:
2 Power 5 NC
6 SEC division games
1 Perm opp game
Home-and-home with 3 non-division SEC opponents for two years, the the other 3 the next two year--similar to how the Big XII used to be.
I love this. And I want Tulane to be that permanent opponent. I know they aren't P5 and their team hasn't been good in a long time, but they are the closest thing we have to a true historical rival. I kinda miss 'em.

Yes, I played the game. And obviously you haven't, or you would know this. It takes more power and more intensity, and more everything to push around a guy that is bigger and stronger.
get off my lawn puss. you are wrong.

I've always thought that a lottery should be held in an atmosphere like the NFL draft, where representatives from each team are there and you have one ball bin for the home team and one ball bin for the visiting team. Put every power five team in each bin, and hold this drawing the weekend before the national championship game. If the home team comes from the SEC, then the visiting has to come from another conference. Pull an SEC team ball? Put it back in the hopper and pull another ball until you get a team from another conference.
Two games, every year. Two games set aside for two non-conference, power 5 games against a team you may never have played, otherwise. That could lead to some very anticipated games (as well as some duds).
Imagine Alabama actually getting an away game at Pitt, or Penn State? Or LSU getting Michigan or Ohio State at Tiger Stadium? The possibilities would be fun.

It’s easy for him to say because it’s not happening

Would take the pay days away from small schools that keep them afloat.

That's how games were scheduled in the 70s and early 80s, but with fewer games. Few to no rent a wins

In 1988 LSU played 7 SEC games our OOC was TAMU, Ohio St, Miami and Tulane

Reason no one wants to play them is because they don’t want to do a home and home series. They would rather play neutral site games somewhere in the South ( Atlanta, Dallas). They complain too damn much.

Both Miami and Tulane had recently beat LSU too.

I agree. I wish we played them. Besides teams like Houston,Memphis and Cincinnati are 10x better than many "power 5" teams. I know in general that is a good starting point, but you have to turn the page. Playing Rutgers is not the same as Memphis or Central Florida.

Saban is Full of S&$#! Nobody wants to play them because they only want to do one offs and host the game! They do not want to give any power 5 opponent a home and home!

Yeah so Bama can schedule Tennessee, Vandy, South Carolina and Kentucky every year now.
