To believe this youd have to believe that Alleva has foresight or is competent.

Herman is out of the question until UH loses a few games. Seriously, the money will be there for him when he wants it. LSU is not the only school that would be willing to throw money at him.

I would think Aranda was brought in because he's a top 5ish DC in the country. One could argue that bringing him in is good leverage in finding a great coach to replace Miles, but I think bringing him in to specifically lure Herman is a stretch.

I'd love it if Herman thought Aranda was a plus, but didn't Herman's Ohio St. offense destroy Wisconsin? Can't imagine he was that impressed with Aranda's defense at the time. And like everyone else, I can't imagine Alleva thinking that far ahead on anything.

Uh, why would this post have 20 down arrows? Is this a bad thought, or this a Bama blog?

Yes, he was. The guy who fricked up the Duke Lacrosse non-scandal is actually a mastermind conspirator. That whole scandal was a far-sighted gambit to get Tom Herman by setting in motion the events that led Alleva to LSU. You've smoked it out, though, you dog!

Herm seems pretty tight with his current DC

yep.

Most newly-hired head coaches bring a lot of their old staff with them. And since Houston's defense is legit and they were able to land that 5* recruit DL (Ed Oliver, I think) who is a stud for them this year, I suspect Herman would bring his DC with him.

So OP thinks Les hired Aranda to get at Herman in case he (Les) was fired?
Quite the conspiracy theory.

If they're that close, watch for Herman to take Aranda to Texas when he replaces Strong next year.

Texas WILL fold this year!

Lure? No. It was part of the "arrangement" made after last season. I can't bleieve it's not talked about more, but Miles is leaving on his own accord. The Herman/Aranda deal was done. Aranda could leave sooner, so he did.

I don't understand the downvotes. Them being roommates for a time is potentially a pretty big deal.

I will say Aranda wasn't brought in to lure him though. I believe Les lobbied for Aranda.

I'm pretty sure Miles wasn't bringing in a coordinator to help LSU get its first choice of replacements after firing him.

You sound like you've got "inside info" and I'm bored at work. Please elaborate.

Wow, that is quite the maneuver by the keen strategists in charge at LSU!

Sounds like something Alleva of all people could definitely pull off
