it wasnt working and Canada did what he always does and got pissed. only this time he met his match in an equal dumbass hot head in Coach O.

LSU would have beaten Troy that season. Otherwise, the results would have been the same.

The bigger question is does LSU get Burrow if Canada is the OC in 2018?

That is not necessarily true. The relationship was severed after the Mississippi St. loss.

You have to go back to 2017. The fan base was, AT VERY BEST, lukewarm on the Orgeron hire. Still, like every offseason, there was optimism going into 2017. The honeymoon ended with Mississippi St kicked LSU's arse up and down the field at a record clip. The criticism of Orgeron being in way over his head came down quickly and Orgeron (privately) blamed the loss on Canada's "weird" offense. That severed relationship directly led to the Troy loss. LSU's offense in the first half that night was noticeably different than what they had done in the prior games. They went back to their usual offense in the second half. It just wasn't enough to overcome the 17-0 hole LSU had dug themselves into.

O was not at the top of the list for the LSU job. He probably wasn't even in the top 5 of candidates. However, he new that was his last shot to ever become a HC and pulled out all the stops to campaign hard for the job. Miles shunned the former players...so O had them leading the team into the stadium down the hill. It's not like Canada went on to be some superstar Offensive genius. All he had was smoke and mirrors which may work at Pitt because they play weak undisciplined teams. That crap didn't fool anyone in the SEC.
