After reading a bunch about us needing to fill these spots, how are we supposed to do that with a 25 man limit every year?

By recruiting guys who will be here longer than 2 years. For all the talk about the NFL draft, it’s transfers and dismissals that have really killed us.

Limit signing players that will only be here for only 1 or 2 years like grad transfers and JCs. Bring stability to scheme. Changing scheme leads to winners and losers and the losers transfer out more often than not. Limit oversigning of a position which will lead to a lack of playing time and again transfers. etc.

Convincing seniors to stay will certainly help in the short term, but juniors leaving didn't cause the problem. Things like those listed above is the problem.

we are limited to 81 for the next 2 yrs. with a 25 man class this year we can afford to lose 10 players from the team we had entering the Florida game. we have 15 seniors, if we keep 5 with no JRs leaving we make it. goal is to keep up to 10 and reduce the scholarships we handed out to walk-ons this year. It's very doable

agreed. 8 of 9 Jrs were drafted top 108. you can only hope to keep 1-3 of those guys. The transfers and opt outs are what depleted us. Charles and Phillips are those mid round guys you have to keep, but 2 guys won't cover for double digit transfers.

If you combine the ones this year that have opted out due to Covid, it absolutely was the biggest problem of 2020.

You can withstand lower scholarship numbers if you have top end talent. Four of LSU’s 10 top players opted not to play.

Coming off the nfl draft where 9 more declared.

Losing 13 nfl players in an offseason is a huge blow to a roster & the end game of winning & losing.

Start bringing n 27 to 28 signees every year with total disregard to the rules and no fear of the NCAA to do anything about it...

The ncaa, I believe, will have to temporarily adjust the scholarship cap, and I think they will

A scholarship should open up if someone transfers from your program, at the very least to accept another transfer.

25 x 4 years is 100 players. Attrition always takes players away

It’s attainable most years. Transfer portal/draft/opt outs decimated LSU.

Will have aim for 81 for two years.

I respectfully disagree with only needing 70-75. It can be done , but not optimal for the program in 2 years.

Take as many as you can get. And to avoid the long talk of it I will sum it up for this:

You need all 3 and 4th string players to steep in the program bucket. . IE learn playbooks/get mature mentally/get bigger&faster.

Transfers and early drafts are inevitable, and that’s why you need as many as possible....expecially of other schools are using 85.

This helps avoid relying on true frosh as much. Especially on OLine.

70 would be tight, but 75 is a good goal. We are partially in this number crunch today because we were obsessed with taking 25 players every year for so many years. It forced LSU to process some guys 2 years ago. Additionally taking only 23 in a couple of those years would allow LSU to add 29 this off-season. We wouldn't have to tell some committed players to look around when we were tight on the 25 and some big fish were out there.
