How soon do you think we will see changes in this NIL clown show?

Clearly it’s not sustainable on this path.

Watch Ja’Kiem Stewart injure Bryce underwood in a USC-Michigan game. And two of michigans qb just left.

Do people want to win? Do people put down those who don’t want to dive head first into the water? People want to win and it will only get worse.

People blaming NIL when the wide open portal is the issue

What kind of changes do you think can be made? Nothing can really be done unless people stop donating and businesses just stop fronting the money.

The money was never the problem, always been there. We are just seeing a market correction right now. Coaches will make less..or "voluntarily" give a large amount to these NIL collectives...then schools will stop with these over the top facility/weight room/locker room upgrades, players would rather have that money in their pockets...now the transfer portal rules need to be revamped

Hopefully, soon...it's miserable..and the portal transfer.

NIL works perfectly. Should have always been this way. I personally love capitalism.

Genie is out of the bottle, so probably never, too much push back from the players.

It’s wild to think about the end game of all this. It’s hard to imagine it stopping short of full blown players Union, revenue sharing, and contracts. And after that’s in place and it’s essentially the NFL, what’s next, a draft and schools having ability to trade players? Why not? Pretty sad.
ETA: and do schools just eventually say we’re gonna do away with the 4 year grade classifications and sign kids to 5, or 10 year deals? Again, if it’s a pro league, why not?

Disagree. While I hate the portal, the NIL money is worse. An open portal without cash inducements encouraging players to jump in would be manageable.

NCAA can’t revamp the rules. Federal judge issued a TRO against the NCAA concerning putting limits on transfers

How you could get even one down vote is a mystery in itself. It’s like some people love to keep their heads in a hole!!!
NIL at this point is absolutely destroying college football. Unless hopefully someone does something about it soon.

“Marshall had to back out of their bowl game due to the TRANSFER PORTAL??
After choosing to let their coach leave DESPITE winning a conference title and 10 games, over 30 players have entered the portal leaving their roster in shambles.”
No, absolutely nothing wrong with NIL or transfer portal, nothing at all.

I agree concerning NIL. If they eliminated NIL went to revenue sharing for all players with a formula to comp those who play more Allow transfers only once in 4 years and require passing grades to remain with program and we just might retain collegiate sport and not create NFL division 2 with no rules of financial obligation .

Negative. Ridiculous amounts of NIL money being thrown at these kids are one of the main reasons they hit the portal. Some of these guys probably had no intentions of entering the portal but ole Mr. Oregon said they’ll offer them $5 million to come play there the following year.

An unfortunate consequence, but not unexpected with a coaching change. Outside of the 12 team playoff, the bowls are a meaningless joke and should be done away with in the future.
If MarShall had made the playoffs, the coach is there this week and none of this happens.

The health of a sports league needs good competition among its teams, and if the big market/big money teams can just buy all the best players, the league overall will suffer.
That's why pro leagues have salary caps, revenue sharing, and contracts to prevent players from jumping teams every year. All those things are anti-capitalism --- but necessary for a sports league to function properly.

Agee. What's the basis for this even coming about. Was it an overreaction to Covid? NCAA makes the rules and I know of no court ruling requiring or allowing the portal. if it didn't exist, then the whole NIL leverage goes away.

But it did happen and is greatly effecting many teams for whatever reasons.
