They will definitely be spawning with the coming full moon this week. They are catching fish from with reports I’ve seen.

One bad outing and this board will turn on him.

30-50 hives probably keep him busy through the honey pull. My friends dad has close to 100 but is getting out due to health issues at 85 years old. He makes pretty good money selling honey.

There are quite a few beekeepers around northwest Louisiana. I find it pretty interesting and for the most part relaxing. I’ll put swarms in nuc boxes for a resource hives. It’s good to have an extra queen or a few frames of brood or even letting them drawn out comb.

I try to put a frame of old dark brood comb in my trap. I have swarm commander and lemon grass oil both. I will see which one works better. You are correct, elevated and facing south seems best. Near water, edge of fields, power lines etc. I lost my two hives during the ice storm and I am hoping to catch a few swarms to get started back.

Swarm trapping bees

I know we have a few beekeepers on here. I’ve got about 6-7 traps baited and hung. Just waiting for swarm season to start any day in north Louisiana. Anyone have much success with swarm traps?
We have some weak fans. Reigning National Champions and unbeaten so far and we lose a game and the idiots crawl out from under rocks to post stupid stuff.
I kept mine up from spring on accident. I see them inspecting it every so often. Last year I had 3 sets of blue birds nest in it.
With the amount of money thrown at a couple qbs the last few days, I have to believe that there are a few back channels being worked that we have no knowledge of yet. With that kind of money and with Kiffens history with qbs, you gotta think we can get a good player.
I don’t get it either. I never thought I would see the day when we swapped bad offensive linemen with another team and got excited about it. Crazy times.

I really like the defensive lineman Echols. I hope he’s coming too. He’s got 2 years left to play. He’s hard to block.

NIL value grading

Players that haven’t proven themselves are jumping in the portal for a pay raise. There needs to be some sort of value based on how you graded out for the year. Probably not a popular opinion with most people.

I agree with Stevo, he’s a tweener. Great athlete but not SEC level at qb or running back . He never seemed to hit the hole with the next gear like Berry. Maybe he could have been better on defense but you gotta have some dawg to play there. I wish him the best of luck..
I will hate to see Frank go whenever that time comes. He’s an excellent recruiter/ relationship guy, but not a good college football coach. I would like to see him in his wheelhouse with recruiting but it seems he may want more. It will eventually be a tough breakup, especially if/ when he gets a spot with another SEC rival. No one is bigger than the program and it appears he could try to use his ties to N.O. to hold us hostage. Just my two cents.
Saban is gone. I don’t think we will see that kind of run at any program any time soon. NIL and portal has leveled the field. Look at Texas Tech and other schools that spend big money. It would be stupid to fire DeBoer at this point.
Bama is a great job, I get that. What I’m saying is that Bama is Bama because of the two greatest college football coaches of all time, Bryant and Saban. No other coach is going to do what Nick did.

re: Bee removal recs

As some have said, bee removals are difficult this time of year. I don’t advise spraying the bees to kill them. When you have someone kill the bees without removing them, you are making the problem worse. Now you have dead rotting bees in the wall. Then you have unprotected honey, pollen and wax that hive beetles, wax moths, roaches, ants and mice are attracted to. It can be a nasty mess if the bees with the comb aren’t removed. There is a major difference in a swarm removal and a cutout. Swarms are usually clustered on a branch or something temporarily while scout bees look for a permanent home. Those are usually easy and no charge. When bees get inside a wall and build it is a completely different situation. You have got to locate them usually with a thermal camera, usually cutting sheet rock, soffit and whatever is in the way go get to the colony. Lots of removals require tools, saws all, tarps, bee vacuums, ladders or scaffolding. Not a cheap investment at all, not including having to wear a bee suit in 100 temps if it’s on an outside wall. The problem is no you still have that bee pheromone, scent in that space. Bees will want to come back to it again. You need to fill that cavity with insulation and then caulk it very well. Still no guarantee that bees can find a way back in. It can be a ton of work to remove bees and repair the damage and put everything back together. I hope this helps clarify a little.
