for any of you youngsters that think the Les era had bad QB play (it did), go watch footage of THIS game.

Brian Sparacino turned in the absolute WORST qb performance i have ever seen in Tiger Stadium.

and that’s not hyperbole.
it was THAT bad.

Well they had beat 58-3 in tiger stadium just 3 years earlier sooooo

Lots of people will brag about being in Tiger Stadium for the 1997 victory, but I'm more proud that I was there in 1993 and was one of the very people to stay through the last play of that 58-3 loss to Florida. Soaking in all the misery of the worst loss in our history just made the 1997 win over #1 Florida that much sweeter.

That Florida game was really disappointing cause we had looked so good early in the season, beating U of H in the famous comeback game, blowing out New Mexico State 63-7, shocking Auburn in the midst of a potentially disastrous fire, and blasting Vandy at home when Rod Dowhower disallowed LSU's white jerseys.

I couldn't believe the Tigers didn't put up more of a fight at Florida, but each one those games from 1993-1996 were won by the Gators in blowout fashion.

Man, if you can't admit LSU's 1996 record wasn't indicative of a prototypical, dominant 10-2 college football team, then I don't know what to tell you.

dude if you can’t admit that the ‘96 Florida team was stupid good, then i don’t know what to tell you.

they played maybe 2 tight SEC games all year and hung 50+ on multiple teams.
they tore through the SEC much like we did in 2011.

One fact doesn't exclude the other. In fact, you're proving my point. Though LSU finished with one additional loss, Florida was in a completely different league than LSU that season.

My memory sucks, but wasn’t the temp in the 90s and humid? And Booger lined up at fullback and caught our only TD?

correct we weren’t.
doesn’t mean we were “paper tigers” or a non-dominant team.
we just ran up against an absolute juggernaut.

much like 2011 Arkansas wasn’t a fraudulent 11-2 team.
they just had the misfortune of being in same division as 2 juggernauts and got handily beat by both.

Was that Jesse Palmer, or Danny Wuerffel?

Either way, their first completion from that game is seared into my memory. I don't know why.

Yep. We had hope until he threw that pass, and from that point on we had to grab the ankles.

I was a teenager at this game. We got our asses kicked and I got the worst sunburn of my life.

I liked the 1997 game much better. Seeing visor-boy throw his visor and getting an unsportsmanlike penalty made my night. We partied until the sun came up.

Spurrier was the boogeyman for me as a kid. Every time we played Florida I just knew we were going to get our arse kicked 50-0. For those who want to hear former gator James bates doing Steve spurrier impressions telling great stories check this out.

We wouldnt have beat them in 97 if not for that absolute drumming in 96. Florida won the national title and came into the 97 game undefeated and ranked #1. I went to the game thinking we probably get destroyed. Also was the only game my dad ever came to see in tiger stadium, he had a girlfriend that worked for mapp construction at the time so he got hooked up with a primo tailgate and seats. Thought he was going to cut out at halftime. Lol. Ended up being a damn wild night.

Me and my buddy told my other two friends if LSU is losing by more than 20 at half meet us at the car. Half way through the 2nd quarter we were all in the car ready to leave

Florida got a mulligan that year and beat Florida State in a rematch game to win the national championship. Kind of like 2011 Bama on 1/9/12.
