One of the biggest beat downs of an LSU team I've ever seen. The final score was 56-13, but it was really over before it even started with Florida drubbing #12 LSU to the tune of 42-6 by the half. Amazing that LSU would go on to a 10-2 season, even after suffering another beatdown by Alabama 3 games later when Shaun Alexander ran all over them. LSU seemed more like a paper tiger that year.

I bet you still cry yourself at night because you didn't get that pony you wanted for Christmas when you were 10.

Was disappointed, was GameDay there? It had huge build up, we had a shot going into it, just wasn't our day.

Geez, remember the first play of the game, we had a huge pass down the sideline, it got called back because of a penalty, and that was it, shite

2001 was worse.

49 degrees and drizzling, and Rex Grossman was 22/34 for 454 yards and 5tds in a miserable 44-15 loss for Saban.

Actually, LSU scored the first TD of the game in the south end zone only to have it negated by a penalty. Anyone remember why the flag was called?

Watched it with my 1 year old son. Great memory. I remember Jim Rome only accepted calls from Louisiana that Monday.

Sure that wasn't '97?

I was there. What made it worse was the fans at that time were (justifiably) incredibly arrogant.

Chicks at the bars were incredible though.

We just weren’t ready to take on those next level championship programs yet. This was year two of a massive rebuild, we had lost a lot of a dominant defensive unit from 1995 but we beat everyone we were supposed to beat and actually had an upset or two. The next season we did get over the hump as far as competing on the next level but we had some key injuries at bad times and overlooked a key game or two and cost us. But why are you complaining about a 10-2 season that put us back on the map and ended the worst 6 year span in 40+ years?

Gators were motivated (especially Spurrier) after 95. In the 95 game , LSU lost 21-10, holding Florida to their lowest score of the year. The rumor was that Nebraska called Dinardo due to old ties from his days at Colorado and borrowed the LSU game plane/ keys. After the 96 game , Spurrier made a comment during post game press conference that “I guess they want be teaching anyone one this year how to stop the Gators”. All of this led to the 97 game. Atogwrs wanted revenge. Spurrier was over confident, yelling “Let’s go hang 50 on them again” as they ran out onto the field at Tiger Stadium. The rest is history.

I'm not complaining. I'm looking back at a specific season of LSU football.

LSU had PTSD when they faced Florida at that point. Saban called it “brook trout look” when he was at LSU.

Amazing that the 97 team overcame it.

It was a helluva time to be alive, WAFB replayed the game and we taped it on the VCR to watch over and over again
