Did he learn how to protect his throwing hand at least?

This is a take for sure. Most guys won't make a living at this, but to think they are selfish for trying to get playing time to give themselves a shot is pretty dumb
nothing wrong with trying to find playing time, but when a couple guys last year were given more chances than their production at the plate and defense showed and then pissed that they were not getting guaranteed starting spots and hit the portal….. that’s selfish.

No problem with that. It’s how those things were handled that irks me. You should probably learn to read.

This. You never know what coach is telling them behind closed doors. Getting a stud transfer plus a freshman doesn’t leave much room for the guy.

Perhaps coach told him we need your scholarship and it’s best for him to move on.

Why do y'all keep naming people that made the correct move for themselves and LSU?

They’re listed in the thread. Still more interested in being a contrarian to LSU than backing the program ?

Coach Johnson made a comment to the effect of how happy he was to have Hernandez because we really needed to find someone with character at that position.

How do you want them to handle it?

"Hey man, we've got to shore up your position, it's gonna lead to less time on the field for you, and we will need some of your scholarship money to make it happen"

"oh ok coach! Want me to blow you?"

So Kling, Neal, and Dutton?

I asked a simple question. I'm ordering my national championship merchandise this morning to help "back the program". You're welcome.

I believe it was after the first Arkansas game that Jay took a hidden shot at Neal. He was asked about Luis. Jay said the catcher position needed character and Luis provided that character.

Jay has the philosophy of if you hit the portal you’re done. Remember his quote he doesn’t negotiate with terrorist. This is the way.

And I didn’t put that together until just now. You are right.

There are rare exceptions. Mic Paul is testing the portal for more playing time but by all accounts is an elite character guy who the team loves. He was allowed to stay on with the team and travel to Omaha.

Hernandez.was recruited after Neal left and while it was believed Jones was going pro.

Hernandez was picked up as a catcher/first base/ utility player

Neal did not want to compete against Arambie. I suspect he was told that he would be competing against Arambie for the spot and Jay told Arambie he would have a chance to win the spot and share some time there to get him on campus.

I doubt it. He did what he felt was best for him. There is a chance LSU doesn't win it all if he stays.

Not privy to what went on after last season, but I don’t think anyone should take issue with Dutton or Kling seeking out a change of scenery where they could flourish.

Again, no inside info, but I think that Neal was expected to return and be a major contributor, so there may be a different feeling about his departure. Maybe the same thing with Cam Johnson and Aiden Moffett, for all I know. We might not have won the title if any of those guys returned, and took the spot of one of our key transfers.

totally agree; I think Kling actually made himself some money by going to his new gig. The other SS from last year Kucherak seemed to flourish as well at his new stop. Many roads lead to the next level we just like it when the road runs through the Box.

Jay's success here in such a short time should me a message to any recruit that comes here, to buy into the message and the program. We are the best out there and it's the closest to guaranteed success that you will find.
