the PMAC is not great. Theres not really one great thing about it.
The bathrooms arent big enough, the concourses are too narrow, the seats are too far from the court, there isnt much premium seating, which would bring in a ton of revenue.
The only great feature is the video boards
So gut the interior and redesign it. This ain’t rocket science.

Explain how it’s not broke?
What does that mean? Because the lights work, the a/c, and the floor is playable?
Do you understand anything about how revenue is generated for venues?
What about fan experience? Especially in today’s society?
There are a million things wrong with the Arena and why it must be gutted to the steel supports or a complete new arena.
Under your logic, why did we build a new box? The other one worked fine, won 5 titles in it, no need to replace it right?

Just my point. Nothing is really wrong with the Pmac in its current state. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Ever heard of the arms race in major college athletics?

I think that’s why they are working with Populus on that, from feasibility, to design.
It was done with Georgia Tech and they took it down all the way to the steel supports

But wait. The roof at Tiger Stadium leaks and the bathrooms and concession are deplorable. TEAR DOWN TIGER STADIUM NOW!!!

Let's set up a court in Tiger Stadium. It'll be cold out, but how bad arse would that be?
Ok, so it's a terrible idea in the winter...

they need to tear the old cow palace down and build it there. They havent used that building in YEARS

They’ve added on to it and refurbished bathrooms and concourses 3 times

Don’t know but have always thought playing in the river center downtown made a lot of sense. Get something down there that will bring money into the local establishments also.

Wouldn't relocating the PMAC also allow for Tiger Stadium North end Zone expansion? I seem to remember that the ramp and N.Stadium drive were an issue.

New outdoor track would cost more than renovating the PMAC. No place to have parking/facilities/weight room on campus. The track surfaces/throwing areas alone would run over $3 million.
Indoor track won't get changed because it's a state building that has to be used as an on demand hurricane shelter.
Tearing down and redesigning the PMAC to use the SAME space and reconstruct the seating would make more sense, but it would force the team to play off campus at least a year or two (likely to play at the River Center), which wouldn't be ideal for students/fans.

THE PMAC IS GREAT
The atmosphere can certainly be, but I think this is the first time I have ever seen someone describe the building itself as “great”. It is a relic in a ton of ways and needs to be either gutted and redesigned, or replaced.

The new arena has to be rectangular shaped. So if you can’t renovate the current PMAC to that it’s pointless
The PMAC being an oval puts the stands so damn far away from the court. Look at the difference

I think we missed our window of opportunity.
When Johnny Jones and Nikki Caldwell were here, we could have torn the PMAC down or at least gave it a complete overhaul.
We could have played all of our games on campus at UHigh.
The problem now is we are winning, and people are turning out in large numbers. We missed a golden opportunity right there.

why the obsession with a new arena? Put a winning product on the floor, and the PMAC will be crazy.
Some of the best teams play in old arenas with character. Now sure, they can renovate it to bring it up-to-date, but we don't need a new arena.

Use the new green space where PMAC used to be as a park and prime tailgating.
You got the park part right. Only it would be parking. Expensive parking close to everything.
TAF would have to be temporarily relocated unless LSU would move Bernie Moore and leave PMAC alone until new arena is built.
