Saban is a legend. A bit of an arse but also a God fearing Catholic happily married for decades.

I am not so sure about that. There have been lots of rumors of mistresses on the side dating back to when he was at LSU.

Greatest College coach of all time, and a big time prick.

I hated him for first 10 years or so. Now I'm thankful for what he did for LSU. I just really wish he would retire.

I cherish the days of LSU football when Saban was here, so I share your sentiments exactly. If I ever came across him in person, I’d shake his hand and share a few kind words with him. But it is fun when Bama loses, mainly because of Bama fatigue and the dipshit bandwagon sidewalk fans that follow them.

Agreed.
I understood his ambition to practice his trade at the highest level as his motivation for leaving. I wish the timing had been better for us to find a replacement, but that's water under the bridge. I think he is the greatest college football coach of all time.

Forever grateful for redefining what our expectations are and SHOULD be. Forever grateful for what he accomplished here and how he changed the culture of our program.

No upset whatsoever for his choice to pursue the nfl as that is totally understandable and i was hoping somehow he’d come back home if he failed but unfortunately he ended up at bama. It sucks seeing what could have been here but you have to respect what he’s accomplished.

Having said all that, I wish the old goat would retire and give the rest of us a chance

When I think of Saban, I think that this would be his 22nd year at LSU coming up, and we would have between 8-12 national titles over that period. Let that sink in for a minute. We would UNQUESTIONABLY be the greatest program in the history of college football.

I understand sports is a diversion, and not as important as real life, but this kind of depressing for the sports fan side of my personality.

I wish he would take a real challenge like go to SMU and try to bring back the Eric Dickerson days. I’m sick of him being at Bama and with this 12 team playoff around the corner, we’re gonna have to prepare to play their asses twice a year now.

I like to say that he is a dirty rotten scoundrel, but I still wish he was our coach.

He did much for LSU and I am grateful. He was integral to the success we have had the past 20+ years.

I recognize the consistency of excellence he achieved in college football.

I think he is an expert at the "behind closed doors" affairs of a big time college program.

He is Tiger Bait as long as he coaches somewhere other than LSU!

Geaux Tigers!

I’m only 26, so one of my first football memories is the 2003 season. However, he’s been quite possibly the greatest source of pain and misery in my life time

Best we ever had and he exposed the incompetence of the LSU establishment.
Sitting on a gold mine of talent and it's been squandered by incompetence at the top.
Dietzel showed it, but he couldn't take the incompetence.
I love beating Saban because when we do we have beaten the best.
I wish he would retire early so my chance of us winning another championship, in my lifetime, would increase tremendously.

That phrase always rubbed me the wrong way. Each singular coach has to find his own way to get the right players in at the right time. It’s not like the coach post-Saban could be a crap coach and great players would still come because “it’s LSU”. They’d go elsewhere like we’ve seen quite often.

Not to mention the coach actually win the championship.

In his defense he did try to come back to LSU first before going to Bama. Real sick thing that he did. But credit where credit is due for trying to come back here first.
