His fire and passion in the first few years was other worldly.

A+ Biggest strength salting away games when he had the lead (powerfootball)
F adjusting his offense, passing game attacking opponents weakness

A national champion who couldn’t modernize his offense.

LSU gave him everything to be as successful as anyone in the business. He could have won several titles here. He was very stubborn and didn't adapt with the times like Saban did. All he had to do was adapt and he didn't. Don't feel sorry one bit for him. He had a good run. Till last few seasons.

Like a Billionaire’s son who was given a Fortune 500 Co., the top executives kept it going and made some good hires to keep it on top. The spoiled son thought he had to do nothing, that the company could run itself and then he ran it in the ground.

Not too smart. Got lucky a few times.

A little like I do Bill Cosby. I really liked both of them, and was extremely disappointed when news broke of their low character deeds.
I don’t equate what Les did to what Cosby did, but the effect on me was similar. Running around on his wife would just be his business, but there were accusations of continued sexual harassment.
As far as his coaching? He was a good coach but not a great one. His results matched his ability.

A winner above all else.
Fanbase clamored for “one of us” badly and got it.
Same fanbase was less critical of Ed while he was being much less successful during his tenure.

Miles wasn't as terrible as many made him out to be (just look at the resume blindly) but his refusal to adapt finally caught up with him in his later years. He left fans with a lot of headaches throughout his tenure although we did get a national title out of it. He certainly had a lot of flaws but a .770 winning percentage over a decade isn't too shabby and the worst year he ever had was 8-5. Hopefully BK can be the 4th coach in a row to do it (Saban, Miles, O).

I think Miles idolized Bo Schembechler. Then Miles won a National Championship, something his idol Schembechler never achieved. To me, that took some of Miles' drive and motivation away.

I know for a fact that he inquired about coming back LSU before the 2006 season. He didn’t look into Alabama until 2007 when RichRod turned them down dumbass

I've always viewed Les Miles since the day he arrived as a buffoon and I still do to this day.

From 2005-2011, a really fun, and often confusing, ride that was probably unexpected considering where he came from. Nobody thought the weird hat wearing guy from OSU had a chance.
From 2012-2016, his true colors showed. He was what he always was, and like the casino always does, the house started to gain the edge vs Les Miles. Average football coach who held on to a philosophy for way too long.
He was a decent coach at an infallible program at the perfect time. Without being the only 2 loss national champion in 2007, he's the most underachieving coach of all time. He's somehow a more competent version of Larry Coker. Could do no wrong with what he had, made it last a little longer than expected, eventually became a liability.
