Much better than this board gives him credit for. Was a very consistent winning coach over his tenure until his back end of his career where his time was up. It was a slow downhill trend post 2011 where he refused to adapt to modern NCAA and that was his downfall.

Cool coach, great personality, mediocre gameday coach, excellent recruiter probably top 5 in the country, good personnel manager for the most part until the last few years he did a good job identifying holes to recruit. made good hires for coaching overall too. good overall CEO all things considered his career here.

The CLM Era was a blast but towards the end it was more and more obvious the game passed him by

For us old farts, Les Miles is Charley McClendon reincarnated. From the off tackle left, off tackle right, screen pass, punt offense to the amazing defenses. Now Miles did do a lot more passing but that stubborn streak is Charley Mac reinvented.

I enjoyed some of the memories he gave us, but it's just Sad he pissed away some really talented teams, he should have easily won 2-3 other national championships

Unlike successful coaches, refused to adapt, recruited well, failure to adapt meant program was stuck in mud.

He took the passion of LSU football from me and many of my friends. Games often were not fun to watch, even the ones we won. I hope he never sets foot on campus again.

For all his antics and lack of coaching ability, I said then and now, he had the unfortunate timing of being in the same division as Saban. LSU would have won at least two more titles under Les had Nick been elsewhere. I still blame the doctor at Miami that failed Drew Brees on his physical. Completely changed the college football landscape AND the Saints success

His first interview here left me totally underwhelmed. The man couldn't talk. And my perception of him from then on was colored by that, fairly or not.

Over the early years there was a narrative that it was an act, a contrived Columbo-like persona to dupe his competitors. But I came across him in situations where there was no need to perpetuate that persona and he was the same. He was who he appeared to be always IMHO.

I think he had some tremendous good fortune early on, I could list the many moments specifically. But he did win more consistently than I expected he would, for that I give him some credit.

nope. The goofy schtick was endearing for awhile, but then we all realized he was just a moron.

I liked Les from 2005-2011. After 1/9/12, he lost me forever. I don’t think he ever recovered with the majority of the fanbase either. For the life of me, I can’t understand why he wouldn’t at least try to adapt to the modern game. He has superior athletes against just about everyone he played. Why not let those horses run? The years 2012-2016 had a few fun moments, but I never believed he would lead us back to the top.
