It was iconic. But I don’t miss them. Verne was good, but I didn’t like Gary’s color commentary.

The only thing I liked was the jingle. Danielson is unbearable.

I DID like Verne saying "Louisiana State University" a few times a game. Both of them were likeable.

For me the nostalgia comes from the CBS theme song. 2:30 kickoff was primetime. Would get dark in the 4th quarter after the time change. I think CBS did a great job broadcasting games overall.

ALways disliked Gary's commentary. I don't remember what game but i specifically remember him saying, without a hint of sarcasm in his voice, "Well you know what the keys to winning the game are? Scoring more points." Like no shite my guy.

Hard to blame Gary in that era, Les Miles should’ve sucked less. Verne was really not very good at football commentary but entertaining. Both of them really.

I loved them at the time they were still calling games together. Might be a hot take but I didn’t think Gary was a massive Bama homer. I just think it may have come across that way because those Bama teams were so dominant, that often times there was nothing but positives to say about them. I loved the entire CBS production
